Travel Day to Choluteca!

Hola!

Making our way to Choluteca, Honduras was an exciting journey. Meeting at the airport at 4 am led a lot of us to buy some well deserved coffee during our layover in Atlanta. We then flew into Tegucigalpa and continued our travels on land to Choluteca in a 3 hour bus ride. Once we arrived at our hotel, we unloaded and went to take our donated supplies to the nursing school up the street. We were welcomed by Angie and Larry who built the school and made it what it is today. We enjoyed a wonderful homemade dinner and prepared our belongings for our first clinic day. After a long day of travel, we all went to bed early excited for this new and humbling experience.

Day 1: Clinic at Siete de Mayo

Buenos Días!

It’s hot and sunny here in Choluteca! ◡̈ Today was our first day in clinic out in the communities. We traveled about 30 minutes to the friendly village of Siete de Mayo.  We were able to care for 70+ patients, ranging from children, adults, and women’s health. We also worked alongside the nursing students from the Instituto Educativo de Transformación Integral (IETI) nursing school. We learned a lot, discussed how we could improve, and ended the night with smoothies and cake (¡Feliz Cumpleaños, Jeff!)!

Tomorrow we will be at the school assisting in education with the nursing students—should be another great day! Below are some photos from the day. Now we are off to sleep!

Buenas Noches!
