Midcourse Teaching Feedback
I used an opportunity to guest lecture on Motivational Interviewing for 2nd year masters students in the clinical mental health counseling internship course to solicit midcourse feedback on my teaching. I submitted a request for a specialist from the University Center for the Advancement of Teaching to attend the class and evaluate my presentation. In consultation with this specialist, I created a feedback instrument about my teaching for the students to complete prior to departing for the day. I compiled the results of this feedback as both quantitative data analyzed in SPSS and qualitative data that captured the student’s comments on my presentation. I attended a follow-up evaluation with the UCAT consultant, and wrote a reflective paper to create a plan for further development of my teaching skills.
