“At Ohio State College of Nursing, we equip our students to LIVE WELL.  To LIVE WELL is a journey and a process you’ll experience in your time here.  It is what we teach and what we do.  LIVE represents lead, innovate, vision, and execute and WELL represents wellness-focused, evidence-based, lifelong learners, and lights for the world.  You will learn how to LIVE WELL, which equips our students to be transformational leaders and alter the face of health care across the U.S. and globally.  LIVE WELL distinguishes our Buckeye Nurses by embodying our College’s Core Values of excellence, diversity in people and ideas, transformational leadership, and intellectual rigor among other attributes.  This session will give you a glimpse into what it takes to make a difference in nursing and to LIVE WELL.

Our mission at The Ohio State University College of Nursing is “to revolutionize healthcare and promote the highest levels of wellness in diverse individuals and communities throughout the nation and globe through innovative and transformational education, research and evidence-based clinical practice.”  This is no small task, but our Dean dreams BIG!  As an integral part of our community, all new students should attend this onboarding event.  Come meet our Dean, senior leaders and leading researchers to catch the vision and hear about the innovation happening daily in the College of Nursing.  See you there!”

The date for the first session will be released once the sessions are set.

Student objectives for the first seminar include:

  1. Develop a better understanding of the scope and practice of the participating disciplines.
  2. Begin to develop respect for the contribution made by each member of the health care team.
  3. Describe the national core competencies for interprofessional collaborative practice.
  4. Build interprofessional teamwork and communication skills.

Students of all health science colleges are expected to participate and should notify me only if they have an unforeseen situation that will prohibit their attendance.
