Beacon Student Portal Beacon is a comprehensive student portal where currently enrolled students can view personalized curriculum plans, find out information on program compliance status. Beacon also posts updates from College of Nursing related to academic deadline, special events and leadership opportunities.
Beacon can be accessed via the web browser at https://beacon.nursing.osu.edu or via iOS devices by downloading the app at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ohio-state-nursing-beacon/id1544751412. To log into Beacon, please use your OSU username and password. Note: username format is “name.#” only; do not include the “@osu.edu”.
Buckeyelink Contains many online student services, from scheduling classes to paying tuition.
Buck ID The student ID badge for Ohio State students. Students may go to the Buck ID office to pick up their ID once they have enrolled in classes. A photo ID will be required.
Carmen Canvas The Learning Management System (LMS), or platform for online learning, can be found on Carmen. This is where you will access your course syllabi, see your assignments, and manage your coursework online. For support please email 8help@osu.edu or use the Resource Center on the main Carmen site.

Graduate School Orientation The Graduate School has developed an orientation for incoming graduate students. This orientation, designed as a Carmen course, was developed to provide graduate students with an overview of the Graduate School, graduate education at our institution, and the resources available to all graduate students. Due to its asynchronous nature, you are welcome to review it at your convenience. Students seeking technical assistance in accessing the orientation should contact the OTDI IT Help Desk at (614) 688-HELP (4357) or 8help@osu.edu.

Lockers: There are a limited number of lockers available for student use in the basement of Newton Hall. These lockers are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must visit the Information Desk in Heminger Hall to complete and sign a Locker Agreement form to be assigned a locker. This agreement can be renewed annually. Students are responsible for supplying the lock and will be required to provide the combination or a spare key for the lock to be assigned a locker. This will be kept secured with your signed agreement. Items kept in lockers must be non-perishable and in compliance with The Ohio State University’s Code of Student Conduct. All items and the lock must be removed from lockers at the end of spring semester.

Student Health Insurance All campus students at The Ohio State University are required to have health insurance if they are enrolled at least half-time and in a degree program of study (4 credits for graduate students). Students exclusively in Distance Learning programs are not eligible for student health insurance through Ohio State.
