Application Process

HumCog is open to rising 9th graders through rising 12th graders.

The Humanities and Cognitive Sciences High School Summer Institute welcomes applications from rising high school students.  Members of traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

The application packet consists of:

  • A one page description of why you want to participate in HumCog.  This is a personal statement that should include what you might bring to HumCog, and what you might hope to learn from HumCog.
  • A completed application/registration form, including signatures.

Tuition

After notification of admission to the program , students and parents will receive an email notification, and a letter of acceptance and invoice will be provided.  Tuition fee will be posted. Payment is payable by check to The Ohio State University. Tuition includes instruction, course and related materials, a HumCog tee-shirt, HumCog mementos, and campus tours. Limited scholarships are available and will be determined by need and merit.  Please refer to the application for details.

  1. This program is exactly what my son has been looking for! Unfortunately, we are not in the Columbus area and then, are not allowed to consider the program. Just wanted you to know what an incredible program it sounds like! If it becomes open to non-residents of Columbus, please let us know. Thank you.
