Help! I saw blood on the toilet paper after I wiped – what should I do!?

mayo foundation

Q: Help! I saw bright red blood on the toilet paper after I wiped.  What should I do!?

Short A: Come in to see us so we can check it out.

Long A: Don’t panic. We see this all the time at Student Health and it’s rarely as scary as it looks.  You’re probably dealing with a hemorrhoid: a very common, and literal, pain in the butt.

Hemorrhoids are abnormally swollen veins in the rectum or anus that bleed with minor pressure, such as that which occurs from bowel movements.  They can be painful or painless depending on their location, and are often associated with rectal pain and itching, a lump that you can feel and/or rectal bleeding.

Risk factors for developing hemorrhoids include

  • Poor fiber intake
  • Prolonged sitting or standing
  • Being overweight
  • Pregnancy
  • Chronic constipation or diarrhea
  • Engaging in anal sex

When you come to the Student Health Center, we will ask you a lot of embarrassing questions and do an embarrassing examination to rule out other more serious causes of rectal bleeding such as infections, inflammatory bowel disease, anal fissures and even (rarely) colon cancer.  Since some hemorrhoids are located a few inches inside the rectal canal, we may have to use a small, lubricated, clear plastic tube called an anoscope to look on the inside.

The mainstay of hemorrhoid treatment (and prevention) is fiber, fiber, fiber.  Most of us don’t get enough fiber in our diet, which leads to constipation, which leads to straining to have a bowel movement, which leads to increased pressure in the rectal veins which… you get the idea.  Supplementing your diet with soluble fiber supplements (Metamucil or Benefiber) will work wonders for this problem.  Other things you can do include:

  • Avoid straining and prolonged sitting on the toilet
  • Lose weight if necessary
  • Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water per day
  • Exercise regularly
  • Gently clean the anal area with soft, moistened paper after each bowel movement and avoid the urge to scratch – as an old family doctor once told me: “Wipe, don’t polish!”

Again, while it can certainly be scary, rectal bleeding is rarely a sign of a life-threatening condition.  But if it happens to you, be sure to see your health care provider to make sure it isn’t, especially if the bleeding is dark brown or black, is heavy, you feel weak or light-headed, or the pain gets suddenly a lot worse.

  1. Hey the past 3 days every time I went to the bathroom had diarrhea wipe my self and it was blood im not weak or anything . Then today I wipe and it stop should I take some benefiber to see if this will help … It’s like on and off

    • If this has been occurring on and off, with bouts of diarrhea and blood, then I would recommend you speak with your doctor. If this is a one time occurrence, keep an eye on it. If it happens again, speak with your doctor.

    • What do I do I dont wanna to tell my mum or my dad Im scared theres been blood and poo its not itchy im about 130lbs I told my mum it was my period cause thats what I thought it was but now I dont think so no pain but how should I tell my mum I DONT WONT CANCER it happened yesturday on the 4th of July almost at 9:00 Im panicing do u mean dark when its wet or dark when its dry cause im just scared right now :”( can it just heal by itself or do I need treatment if i need treatment is like cream or pills or something without surgery or a shot

    • Next time you poo and there’s blood – DO NOT FLUSH. Go get someone, mum, dad, aunt, and have them take a look. I know, gross, but seriously have someone (an adult) take a look. They can then help to determine if a trip to the doctor is in order. It could be it’s nothing, just hemorrhoids, or it could be something must more serious like an ulcer in your colon. Better to have a little bit of embarrassment than to keep this hidden and have it become something very serious that could have been treated quick easily.

    • I know how you feel and I’m 11
At first this thing scared me like hell then the next day It wasn’t there, Mum wasn’t home, so I didn’t say anything and then today it came back this-morning
It’s like a switch on, off, on
Its only when I wipe there is blood
      It’s weird and scares me

    • Well I am a girl and this happened to me today at a party. This is my first time doing it but I felt nothing. I never realized until now! If it happens another time I might have to go to the doc. But I think it’s the candy that caused this to happen to me……

    • When you have your period it tends to show in your pants. Not just when you wipe. Also if it’s lasted more than a week, defiantly not a period.

  2. What’s with me go loo most times blood on loo paper later in the day feel wet down there wipe it always blood what do I do ??

    • It’s very important that you schedule an appointment with your doctor. Consistent blood flow when going to the bathroom is not a normal occurrence.

  3. I have been experiencing a feeling of really bloated ness for a long time I’m not a fat person but my stomach is getting huge are really bloated I have just kind of icky icky feeling no just a block from inside my stomach after I went to the bathroom I wiped and there was blood on the toilet paper I did not have a bowel movement and and I have been through menopause so it is not a. Menstrual period I do get constipation quite often and I do believe I have had some type of hemorrhoids but they have not really been bothering me lately so when I saw blood I got pretty scared

    • Make an appointment with your doctor. Tell him/her your symptoms and get checked out.

    • Why is every suggestion made “Visit your doctor?”

This is why GP waiting rooms are full. Because sites like these suggest seeing a doctor first, every time. Sometimes, it will clear up. Don’t go rushing to the doctors unless the problem persists.

Medical websites + hypocondriacs = long waiting times in waiting rooms, because people go there even for a slight cold, making doctors work harder, and clogging up the health system. I don’t pay taxes for people to run to the docs for any slight thing.

    • Great question. Many individuals are asking for medical advice which is pretty much impossible to give via the internet. A doctor would ask your medical history, your families history, ask about your symptoms, your lifestyle, make observations, run tests, and the like and based upon all of that information they would make their diagnosis. Via the web, all I am receiving is a little snippet here of what is occurring and it is just not possible to make any recommendations based upon this tiny bit of info. And so I err on the side of caution and recommend that individuals seek the advice of a medical professional.

All that being said – you need to know your body. If something unusual happens take a moment and consider, what you have been doing the past week or so? Could you have done something, eaten/drunk something, not done something or not eaten/drunk something that could have caused these symptoms? If that’s possible, let it go a day or so and see if things clear up. If not, and these symptoms are not common for you and you are worried, then schedule an appointment with a medical professional.

    • Do you think your the only person paying taxes…the reason they say get it checked out is because it could be serious or it might not be.. these sites are here to give advice and explanation of possible medical conditions that cause this…

    • I’m a hypochondriac so I know that medical websites that suggest go to your doctor are a reason that waiting rooms at clinics, hospitals, etc. are being filled up quickly. ( plus the hypochondriacs that go there too. )

    • Yeah, my friends mom is like this. She had her 11 year old grand daughter believing she had brain cancer all the way to lymphoma. Turned out she had the flu and a cold. This 11 year old was so scared she had her first full blown panic attack because of her grandma that is a registered nurse. We used to look up symptoms of things and say one of the symptoms, which would be minor usually and could just be a cold or flu. She was calling the family saying we were on our death beds with the issues we were having., Hypochondriacs on these medical sites will do that. Most the medical sites just show symptoms of what things can be and tell you if the problem persists to go to a doctor. NOT GO RIGHT AWAY. Unless you know its severe.

  4. Pleas I had a very serious waist pains, last week which I couldn’t even sit down properly…and all of saddened I notice another pains too in my anuss with some little blood which am really scared cos the blood look a little brownish. …but now the waist pain has gone except the blood in my anuss. So pls help me? Is very painful

  5. This is so embarrassing, but EVERY time I go to poop I’m constipated. But when I finally poop, I wipe poop THEN blood. Its been causing this AWFUL smell EVERYDAY. I’m starting to lose friends. I’m to embarrassed to hang out with anyone, because of the smell. Other students are teasing and making fun of me because of the smell. I just want it to stop ;( Please help me. agreen5757@yahoo.com

  6. duuuude i just got this. So scary, i thought i was going to die. thanks a lot for the information, i have been sitting a lot these past couple of days because i have the flu.

  7. Hi I just wiped and saw blood. I panicked because that’s a bad feeling to see blood on the tissue after wiping away #2. I panicked because I been having similar pains in my stomach for the last month that I had back in 2005 when My #2 was black entirely. Doctors said I had bleeding ulcers up top. This time it’s actually live blood and I don’t know what to do! I’m afraid of the doctors

  8. I bleeding, it has happend for years now I’m 19 years old don’t feel pain but it like happens two or three time a year and it’s in the upper but aria should I worry? It comps and go but the blood is really red help! Thank you.

    • I’ve just been reading through comments and every comment you have made towards it has been talk to a doctor, ok yes they should but what is the point of this if you can’t give some kind of idea as to what it could be, you are honestly no help

    • Because if she tries to diagnose people over the Internet without all of the facts they she puts herself in SERIOUS liability for any thing that happens to that person. If she said it’s not a big deal/you don’t need to see a doctor, then the person finds out they have cancer and it’s too late to treat it then she can be sued. I understand your frustration with hearing what you don’t want to hear but you should go seek a doctor’s advice if you are that worried. If you want a list of various things it could be then she provided that up top.

  9. I have the same issue as well.
And I notice I had lump around the anus but it went away. So did the bleeding. For awhile but then it started to bleed and have a lump around the anus again.
    It doesn’t hurt at all.
I have gain weight and my job I am alway sitting.
Will this go away later as long as I eat healthy, eat more fiber, and do excerise or should I go contact a doctor?

  10. Help please! I’m a 10 year old girl and lately I’ve been finding blood on toilet paper after I wipe and my underwear. It would be too embarrassing and awkward to tell my mum or dad so I’ve kept it to myself but any help please?

    • It could be that you are starting your period. Do you have an older sister, aunt, friend, etc that you could talk to about this situation?

    • Hello I’m the same but I’m 11 it’s very scary but it’s just your first period. If it keeps happening for a while it’s just getting rid of old blood. Don’t worry it’s not bowel cancer.

    • This has been happening to me too lately but I am 11. It never gets in my underwear, it is just on the toilet paper after I wipe. I feel like it’s my period but I’m not sure and I told my mom but she just said wait till it happens again and I really hope it’s just my period!!!

  11. Constipation with severe abdominal cramps was the first sign when I figure out I was pregnant. Its rare, but if you’re sexually active I would check this out. The bleeding could be associated with implantation bleeding, especially if its not much. The stool bleeding can be a side effect of the constipation, so this could all be solved with a simple pregnancy test or a trip to your doctor.

  12. Hi I am 14 and weigh about 125 (I’m kinda tall for my age not overweight or anything) but lately I have been noticing that when I wipe there is blood on the toilet paper but when I wipe a again there isn’t any. I don’t think its my period because I haven’t gotten it yet and it happens at random times. I have a healthy diet and stay really active so I don’t know whats going on. It does not hurt or anything. Please help!

    • I am guessing this is probably your period. Take to an older female person that you trust and get their opinion.

  13. Hey today me too had the same problem
While having my motions in the morning
I saw some drops of blood coming it was red
a little bit pain was there in my butt area
    Is it a serious problem

By the way i am athletic person 19 yrs old height 5’5 weight 60 suddenly I have stopped doing exercises and drinking tons of water

Is dis the reason behind the blood coming out while having my motions

  14. Hey every time I wipe there is blood it’s not in the stool it’s self just when I wipe and it happens consistently what is it i’m concerned

  15. I’m a 13 year old girl and recently when I use the bathroom and I wipe there is light redish blood on the toilet paper but not on the stool. It’s never happened before. I haven’t differently than normal, although I don’t drink a lot and I still haven’t had my first period. Is this a serious problem?

    • This might be your first period, actually. Speak to your mom and tell her about this and she’ll tell you whether it is or not. If you feel uncomfortable telling your mother, try an older sister, aunt, etc. someone you trust. Even if it is your butt and not your first period, it is just a hemorrhoid, since it is light. Unlike many other commenters I don’t believe you need to see a doctor, just drink lots of water and make sure to eat fiber. Other than that, no worries Penny! I’m 13 too.

  16. 9 time out of 10, the cause is wiping too aggressively. I’ve had the same exact issue, and decided to start using baby wipes so that I didn’t have to wipe as aggressively. Turns out you’re not supposed to be flushing these, as they’re not toilet friendly. Ultimately, I ended up buying a bidet that is built into my toilet seat from http://www.homebidet.com/.

Still have the issue when at work, but not quite as bad. May try wetting a paper towel or using travel sized baby wipes at work.

  17. Hello. I’m a 13 year old girl who has started her period, weighs around 115-120 pounds, I am healthy, and some what active. Just a moment ago I went to have a bowel movement and noticed that there was bright red blood on the feces. I checked and it was not period blood, but rather from my anus. I am very confused and honestly don’t want to go to my doctor at all costs. Is there any way I could fix this without getting checked out? (There is a slight tingling pain in my anal cavity)

    • Katherine, If the bleeding continues, go to your doctor. My nephew has some bleeding. He didn’t want to tell his parents or go to the doctor. His bleeding did not go away. He now is just 1 colon ulcer away from Crohns and has to have treatments every couple of months. I’m not saying this is your situations, but what I am saying is that it’s better to suffer a little bit of embarrassment and find out it’s nothing that to keep everything to yourself and discover later that you have a very serious condition that could have been averted with early intervention.

  18. So sometimes I seem to really poop the nice biggish ones and sometimes little pellets. Well then lately, here and there, I become so gassy and it’s not really poop that comes out but more so a sticky clear substance with little bits of what look and smell like poop. But.. Then I feel like there’s still more that needs to come out. So tonight I haven’t been feeling well at all, was on the toilet for a little and kept farting and these weird things kept coming out. Then all of a sudden I wipe and there’s some traces of red blood within more of a clear sticky substance. Please help me. I haven’t been feeling great lately with my stomach and bowels.

    • I’m almost 20 years old living at college (the food isn’t the greatest but it works) I’m getting my tonsils and adenoids taken out in May and am not expecting my period for another 2 1/2 weeks. I’m about 5’7 and now weigh about 180.
I saw you said to have more fiber, are bananas included in that description would you say?

    • Soluble vs. Insoluble Fiber

The two types of fiber are soluble fiber, which absorbs water and swells up into a gel-like substance, and insoluble fiber, which doesn’t absorb water. Each type of fiber has a different function, with soluble fiber slowing digestion and insoluble fiber adding bulk to your stools. Soluble fiber helps lower your cholesterol and causes you to feel full, while insoluble fiber reduces your risk for constipation and diverticulitis.

      Fiber in Bananas

The daily value for fiber is 25 grams per day, with this fiber including a mix of soluble and insoluble fibers. A medium banana contains 3.1 grams of fiber, including 1 gram of soluble fiber. For cholesterol-lowering benefits, consume at least 8 grams per day of soluble fiber, notes a 2002 study published in the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.” A banana contains 12.5 percent of the recommended soluble fiber intake.

      Better Sources

While bananas provide soluble fiber, other foods provide more. These include lima beans, kidney beans, baked beans and pears, which each contains 3 grams of soluble fiber per serving, and oatmeal, winter squash, Brussels sprouts, parsnips and navy beans, which each contain 2 grams of soluble fiber per serving. The serving size is 1/2 cup, except for oatmeal, which has a 1-cup serving size, and pears, where the serving size is one large pear.

    • For about a week and a half of having diarrhea and when I wipe the paper has blood on it. There’s no pain or itching just Blood on the toilet paper when I wipe. About 2 weeks ago I was admitted to the hospital my kidneys have failed I was bleeding internally. The Eternal Bleeding was caused from polyps they gave me to blood transfusions my kidneys started working again they released me after 6 days. When this was going on I never seen any blood on my tissue after using the bathroom but now I’ve been home for a week and a half two weeks and all the sudden I am seeing blood on my paper after using the bathroom. Should I be very concerned about this and go back to the emergency room or should I see what happens in a couple days. I called the emergency room to talk to a nurse. she said it’s possible that it could be hemorrhoids I don’t feel anything outside of my rectum but there’s a such thing as internal hemorrhoids this correct. What should I do.

    • Schedule an appointment with your doctor. If it’s nothing you will have peace of mind, if it’s something you can get treatment.

  21. I’m pregnant and I just found out and we’ll I dont have a dr. yet so i went to the RR this morning and took a #2 and when I wiped I saw blood then wiped again and I saw it again, but then it was clean then I wiped my vagina and their wasnt any nlood their blood their. So I don’t know what to do keep in mind I’m only (16)

  22. Timely analysis . I am thankful for the information , Does anyone know if I would be able to access a sample NY DTF ST-330 copy to complete ?

  23. I’m a 25 year old male and had an appendectomy 30 days ago. The doctor said diarrhea is common after this. I have had loose and frequent stools since the procedure. I recently had a bad episode of diarrhea, where I was in the bathroom 6 or so times. I then noticed when wiping a fair amount of bright red blood, with a small amout of bright red in the stool. It occured once again in a non-diarrhea bowel movement. Am I going to die

    • RJ, It could be, with all of the “movement” that you have a hemorrhoid flare up. Best to contact your doctor and run your symptoms by him just to be sure.

  24. Everytime I go to the bathroom it’s always diarrhea it’s never hard. But last month is when I noticed everytime I wipe its always got blood on the toliet paper and sometimes in the toliet. I’m 29 yrs old. I’ve never had this happened to me before. I wanna see a doctor but I don’t have insurance. .. I found out not to long ago that my colon keeps getting blocked. Could it be caused from that. All i want is answers cause it’s freaking me out. I have told my mom about it and she says that it’s probably hemorrhoids…

  25. Iv been going to the bathroom and wen i urin it realy hurts and wen i wipe my slef i sometimes see blood.

  26. Iv been going to the bathroom and wen i urin it realy hurts and like about 2 days i saw blood on the toilit paper

  27. Hi,
    I’m a 26 y/o male.
I had a minor surgery last week (on my groin) that required anesthesia, so for 2 or 3 days, I was knocked out or just laying around.
I’m a bigger guy, usually poop everyday, and it’s usually a larger one when I go.
I noticed yesterday that after I went, when I first wiped, there was bright red blood on the paper, but not in my stool. Once I wiped it all away, there was no more blood. But when I went to go again today, same situation, once I wipe, there is no blood until next time I go.
I feel some slight discomfort near my anal cavity, and at times it’s uncomfortable to sit.

    Any suggestions?
There’s not a lot of blood, and it’s not dark.

  28. I’m 20 years old skipped my last period but just these last two weeks ill go to the bathroom and when I wipe I do find blood but it’s very light not even bright red I’ve been told it might mean I’m pregnant but I don’t believe so. Could I have this?

  29. Hi, I have gotten my period two years ago but just today I whipped with toilet paper and I got light brown stuff and like the long sticky stuff on it so I thought I got my period and when I put on my pad and checked like about an hour later there was nothing on it.

  30. I know most likely the answer will be check with a doctor but I want to know what information you can fill me with. Back in 2012 I experienced blood in toilet bowel and did not get check out. My parents always warn me eating too much spice could lead to stomach problems and maybe even ulcers. They warned me about this because they have family members back in Laos and Thailand who had the same problem. Though it frightens me, I ignored it. Then just last year in 2015, I saw blood again, and it was two days in a row, I did not get check again thinking I might of have consumed an advil while drinking alcohol. Then just last week I’ve been eating this spicy sauce called Dave’s insanity, one of the hottest sauce you can imagine and I feel pain every time I eat that sauce in the top stomach. Then last week I digested blood again and this frightens me. I don’t know if real hot spicy food can ruin your intestines or not. In all cases the toilet bowel shown bright red blood. Please let me know. Thanks.

  31. Hi, I’m 17 and i found blood in my stool earlier. It isn’t really constipation because I actually haven’t been able to keep anything in my stomach for too long and my poop generally doesn’t come out solid (if that makes sense). Lately I just been getting some acid reflux after eating so i don’t know if that has something to do with it. Also, an hour later after i found blood i went to the bathroom again and it was a light brown color, although still not solid but kinda liquid-like yet still hard. (It’s hard to explain poop i’m sorry.) I’m not sure if it means anything .

  32. So I just went poop and I had a bigger one come out that kinda hurt to push out and after I wiped there was blood. Not a lot so i’m just curious if it was the bigger one that caused it? Is it serious? Please help

    • Sounds like it is PROBABLY just an anal fissure, ie… A little tear. Not too serious and if its the first time keep an eye on it. (And least from what I’ve read online)

  33. Hi.. I’m a 15 year old girl and I know its not my period because 1. I know what that looks like 2. its coming from my anus
Every time I wipe my butt there is blood on the toilet paper, not just a couple dribbles, its a lot kinda like it would be my period but its from my butt not vagina… I haven’t had any hard stools and my butt doesn’t hurt, it happens even when I just go pee… Should I be concerned?

    • Yea if be concerned. It could be a hemmeroid or, or an anal fissure which aren’t too serious but I don’t think you’d get that amount of blood for those.

  34. hey really need some help! am a guy 19 of age and I been getting pain in my stomach and also been getting light headed, feeling tired and just unwell really.

the other day when I went to the bathroom still feeling like this, I wiped and found bright red blood only on the toilet paper.

    Please help

  35. I on occasion have pretty constipated poop then wipe bright red blood. From what I’ve read I’m thinking it was simply fissures that healed cause its never been much and only is when I have to force out poop. This morning I had a super constipated poop – had to really force it out and also had a good deal bright red blood once I wiped (it was so constipated of a poop I didn’t even have any poop to wipe). And even a few hours later it’s still lightly bleeding.

Unfortunately I can’t see a doctor. No insurance, money or time. So please don’t say “see a doctor”
Does this sound likely like simply a fissure? Which usually heals on its own from what I’ve seen. I’ve never had blood without constipation.

    • Earlier i went to the restroom and i kinda “forced poop” you can call it and bright red blood came out. I don’t know if it’s just a fissure but I’m kinda of panicking becuase of what I have read in other sites.

  36. I have been “expecting” my period for a while, I’m an 11 year old girl. Each family member of my understanding witnessed their first period around 10-11 years old, I’m not sure if I am getting it now since there was a tinge of orange nearly pink on the toilet paper today, I have had a cramp here and there over the last few days and honestly have been a bit teary… I still am not convinced its my period since I have cramps sometimes and have had heamrroids before, there also was a tiny little clump of blood(I think)?

  37. I haven’t poo in 4 days till today like the other time I’ve strained to get it out and every time bright red in toilet and on paper idk what to do I’ve tried all kinds of things HEMORRHOIDAL OINTMENT still comes out that way what should I do

  38. I’m 18 years old and I have been sitting a lot lately and I stopped working out, and the past two times that I’ve pooped when I wipe I see bright red blood. But I don’t have any pain. Could it be hemorrhoids or my period? And what should I do?

  39. Okay so I’m peeing blood like I know it’s not my period because it would be on my underware. But it’s not every time I pee it’s a short burst of pee with blood and extremely painful

    • Could be a urinary tract infection. Schedule an appointment with your doctor and get it checked out.

  40. Hey, I am an 11 year old girl and I weigh 118 pounds (I am pretty tall for my age but am not overweight) and, only one time, I had a bowel movement and when I wiped there was bright red blood on the toilet paper. I don’t have my period yet, and I checked down there to see if it already came. And it didn’t. Help I am very scared.

  41. I have lost over 100 lbs. I am a gastric bypass person. I started a month or so ago to get back on 4 shakes a day and one protein meal for supper. I walk every single day, I drink water all day long. I seem to only be able to go about once every 4-6 days. So I started taking an herbal laxative tea. That usually takes 2 days to work and even then what bowels are there are HARD and I have to give myself an enema. I admit at first I strain and then give up since it just won’t come out on its own. Today I noticed bright red blood after finally going. It was in the toilet and on the paper. After a wipe or two it stopped. Is this normal? I know I have internal hemorrhoids that used to give me a lot of pain, but since going back to shakes and eating healthy I don’t have any problems at all except for this. This is the second time I’ve noticed red blood. Should I be concerned?

    • Congratulations on your weight loss! That is quite an accomplishment. Next time you visit your doctor, mention the difficulties you have been having. They may be able to make recommendations to ease things for you.

  42. I am 15 and have started my period before, so I know this isn’t my period. I am a little bit over weight and usually is constipated and has stomach pains. This is the first time I have ever bleed from this area before. I’m worried.

  43. Hi I’m 27 I just had a baby in January my 5th child she weighted 8p 5o I was so backed up I couldn’t use the potty for probley the last mouth when thay checked me thay could feel the poop so backed up in me so I pushed so hard because of me not feeling anything I was pooping but ever since that I’ve been bleeding that was seven months ago should I call my obgyn or a nother doctor about it it’s not painfully so I was to much worried but it’s getting a lil bit reder an now I’m worried what should I do????

    • Schedule an appointment with your doctor and really convey to them your concerns. Prior to your visit make a list of your symptoms, when everything started, what has occurred, and why you are now concerned. Make a list of questions. This will help you to be prepared when you visit the doctor so that your concerns will not be overlooked.

    • Without an examination it would be impossible to determine. Keep an eye on things. If you continue to see blood when you wipe, then get to the doctor.

  46. Last night when i go to toilet ,i thought my period is coming but I realise its from back part.. I check and notice its from my anus.. No pain but the bleeding quite a lot.. I was worried what its happen..

  47. I’m a a 19 year old girl, 151cm, 36kg. I don’t have bowel movements regularly, probably 1-2 times a week? But when I do, it usually causes a sharp pain to my abdomens. It usually takes a lot of effort to release but when released, it is usually diarrhoea-like, which kinda contradicts the fact that diarrhoea is usually released easily. Once in awhile, my urine smells a little salty. But today, without carrying out any bowel movements, the toilet paper had specks of bright red blood, but disappears after about 5-7 wipes. If this detail helps: My anus itches a little, hence i went to wipe it.
Are you able to tell give me any helpful information besides visiting the doctor? because I do not wish to tell my parents about this.

  48. I’m 18 and I’m currently 6-7 weeks pregnant I just went to the bathroom and had a normal poop no pain or anything I wiped and saw ALOT of blood I freaked out thought it was maybe from my Vigina and it was obviously coming from my backside. I cleaned myself up and stood up to look in the toilet my poop is dark red looks almost black and the toilet water is filled with bright red blood . I’m really scared and I don’t know what to do.

  49. I have had a sort of constipational feeling as of recent. Strangely though I have been able to poop atleast 6 times a week and just now when as I was wiping I saw little dots of redish blood on the toilet paper. No pain. Just when I would wipe, some little splatters of blood would be present. This has happened in the past when I was younger but I thought nothing of it and nothing major came out of it, maybe wiping too hard possibly? Having read this though I believe I know why now. I sit in school for 7 hours, drink little water because of this, then come home and sit on my butt to do 3 hours of homework. I eat my schools healthiest lunch option and try to always eat a decent breakfast and dinner. On top of that I play baseball and workout frequently. Any suggestions to what foods could help me get my fiber up or just help rectal health in general? I’m not considering seeing a doctor yet unless blood continues to grow worse.
    Thanks in advance! 🙂
