The following are the main reasons that our AEV should be used for the Transportation Project:

  • AEV successfully meets objective of stopping at gates picking up the caboose and returning to the loading dock
  • The Total Budget was $43,500 over the allotted cost, which is reasonable considering it’s safe, fast, and has good energy efficiency
  • AEV meets objective in 48 seconds, which is fast compared to other models
  • AEV is fairly energy efficient only using 199 joules to complete the objective using noticeably less energy with the caboose than other models
  • The AEV only needed one run to complete the objective

Overall, Group C from Baker International should be the provider of the AEV for the project in Smart City. Group C was the first team to complete the Final Performance Test, and the team did it in the first try. This speaks to how much Group C can be trusted to complete any task given to them in a reasonable amount of time. The AEV design of Group C was unlike any others, placing the motors and propellers in the middle of the AEV. This design allowed the vehicle to remove with extreme efficiently both forwards and backwards. While the motors on other team’s AEV could be heard grinding and working hard on the way back with the Caboose, Group C’s design was quite on the way back, showing how much less strain was put on the motors and how much less energy was needed to perform the task. Group C is prepared to implement their design and improve on it even further in the future.
