Sales Pitch

The following are reasons that Group N’s AEV should be used as a form of transportation by the City of Columbus:

  • AEV successfully completed objective of stopping at the gate, picking up the caboose, and returning to the loading zone without error
  • AEV is reliable when testing on the track multiple times and the final performance test was completed after only one run
  • AEV used safe techniques, especially when stopping, due to the combined use of coasting and the servo
  • Approximately $131,494 over budget and with a few more tests, the energy could be lowered, allowing to lower the total price

Group N took the information found from testing a variety of components of the AEV to produce the final design. This includes the push-pull design of the propellers, the use of the servo, and a horizontal base. The push-pull design reduced energy throughout the run until attaching to the caboose. Since the air flows through one path rather than two, the AEV can move smoothly with less energy. The use of coasting and the servo together allows smooth and reliable stops, and the horizontal base is sturdy for passengers. Group N’s design is reliable for correct timing and stability, and with further testing, can improve and be a dependable resource to Columbus.
