Meeting 2
January 18, 2018

The objective of the meeting was to learn how to set up the sensors with the arduino, program the sensors and to run a reflectance sensor test.

Tasks completed

  • Andrew and Logan attached the motor to the motor mounts and assembled the rest of the pieces needed for the test
  • Joe learned the programming basics and how to control the motors
  • Edward helped write the code needed for the motor tests
  • Edward took pictures needed for the website
  • Joe created an index of basic function calls
  • Andrew and Logan attempted to set up the arduino for the reflectance sensor test but ran out of time

  • Complete the reflectance sensor test at the beginning of the next lab (Logan and Andrew)
  • Brainstorm and come up with designs for potential AEVs (All)

Meeting 3
January 25, 2018

The objective is to complete the reflectance sensor test, assemble the AEV, come up with a design for a new AEV, and learn how to use the design analysis tool.

  • Logan and Andrew assembled a sample AEV
  • Edward designed a new AEV based on the designs that all of us came up with
  • Logan, Andrew, and Joe completed the reflectance sensor test
  • Joe learned how to use the design analysis tool

  • Program the AEV to run on a straight track (Joe)

Meeting 4
February 1, 2018

The objective is to create power vs. distance and power vs. time graphs from testing the AEV on a straight track.  The second objective is to create a concept screening and a concept scoring table based on our four designs to decide which designs we want to develop further.

  • Joe created the graphs for power vs. distance and power vs. time
  • Logan created the table for concept screening and scoring

The objective is to create a code to test power braking and coasting, and to test those codes to determine which form of stopping is more effective.

  • Joe wrote the code for the test
  • Andrew and Edward tested the AEV on the track
  • Logan made a data table of total distance and coasting distance to compare each braking method

  • Create the design for the battery case in solidworks (Edward)
  • Create a powerpoint and a pitch (Andrew and Joe)
  • Update the meeting notes and print out all of the necessary documents for the committee meeting (Logan)

The objective of this meeting was to write and test a code for battery testing.  Also to find out how much voltage is lost from each run.

  • Andrew and Edward tested the AEV on the track
  • Logan kept track of the voltage lost and the distance traveled on Excel
  • Joe wrote the code and determined the distance the AEV traveled
