Wetlands for Woodland owners agenda-flier

Wetlands are relatively uncommon in the hills of southeastern Ohio, but Zaleski State Forest is blessed with a wide array of wetland habitats.  In addition to providing wildlife habitat, wetlands are home to some uncommon trees, shrubs and other plants, and they enhance the quality of water that flows through them.

Join us on March 28th at Lake Hope Lodge to learn about the wetlands of Zaleski State Forest with a focus on the amphibians that inhabit them. We’ll also discuss how you can manage existing wetlands or how you can design and build a small vernal pool to provide amphibian habitat in your woodlot. Be sure to bring your rubber boots, because we’ll spend the afternoon exploring a few of these precious gems!

“Managing Forested Wetlands begins at 10 am on March 28th in the lower level meeting room at Lake Hope Lodge, 27331 Ohio 278, McArthur, OH 45651.  We’ll take a break at noon for you to enjoy lunch on your own at the Lake Hope Lodge (http://lakehopelodge.com/menu/). The program will conclude at 4 pm in the field near the Moonville Tunnel at Zaleski State Forest.

This program is free of charge, but space is limited, so please RSVP by March 24th by calling 740-385-3222 (OSU Extension Hocking County) or emailing Jerry at iles.9@osu.edu.
