“Woodland Wildlife – Game Species” offered to woodland owners in SE Ohio at the Vinton Furnace State Experimental Forest on September 14th

Would you like to know more about white-tailed deer, wild turkey, squirrel, woodcock, ruffed grouse and other game species that inhabit woodlands in southeastern Ohio?  Woodland owners in SE Ohio will have the opportunity to learn from biologists from the National Wild Turkey Federation and ODNR- Division of Wildlife on September 14th at the VintonFurnaceStateExperimentalForest near McArthur.Woodland owners who attend “Woodland Wildlife – Game Species” will:

• Learn about behaviors and habitat needs of common woodland game species

• Understand the relationship between wildlife habitat and forest succession and how they influence wildlife populations

• Become aware of techniques that they can use to enhance wildlife habitat

• Visit and discuss a variety of woodland habitats found on the Vinton Furnace State Experimental Forest

• Interact with wildlife biologists and foresters, and learn what you can do to enhance wildlife habitat in your woods

“Woodland Wildlife – Game Species” is part of the monthly 2ndFriday Series sponsored by the Education and Demonstration Subcommittee of the Vinton Furnace State Experimental Forest with support from the ODNR-Divisions of Forestry and Wildlife, The National Wild Turkey Federation, USDA Forest Service, Vinton County Soil and Water Conservation District, Ohio State University Extension, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Hocking College, and Glatfelter.

“Woodland Wildlife – Game Species” will take place on September 14 at the VintonFurnaceStateExperimentalForest, near McArthur.  A registration fee of $10 will include lunch and program materials.
