Why: To explore a specific environmental topic in-depth by analyzing scientific research.
Directions: You will design, construct, and write a short-format article consisting of 1000-1500 words and 4-6 figures and/or tables. First, you must pick one topic in the field of environmental science to focus upon. Next, you should read a minimum of 10 articles from well-respected sources (see example listed below and on Twitter @OSUEnViRo), which are related to your topic. A minimum of 6 of these articles must be from primary sources (journals). After reading these articles, you will write an article describing the topic, issue, and/or problem.
Journals: Biological Conservation, Chemical & Engineering News, Ecology, Environmental Science & Technology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, Science, Nature.
Newspapers: BBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Columbus Dispatch, NPR.
