Module 6

The most useful part I learned from this module was the ideas about how to search for information and different techniques of doing so. When it comes to doing big assignments such as research papers in college, finding sources and information effectively that is credible is crucial. I feel this module really helped break down the best ways to search for information for assignments like this.

Something i have already begun to put into place specifically from this module is the idea of forming a great research question when doing a research paper. Without a good question, the whole research project will fail. Ideas such as narrowing down the topics, background reading, and identifying the purpose of the question itself helped me learn what it takes to form a good research question,

In the future, I will continue to practice these ideas in forming my research questions in order to ensure my question is effective, setting me up for great success on the paper itself. This is what will keep me from having anxiety when it comes to writing these papers, I will be much more prepared to write them with these tactics.

My advice to other students is to identify what sources you are using in your papers carefully. Do not assume every source you read is credible. And ask for help when needed in order to get the right sources!

Module 5 discussion

In this module the most important and influential thing I learned was about the art of note taking. I have come to understand that even though I feel as if I am really good at taking notes, the topics shown here in this module proved I can be better and always have room to improve in terms of how effectively I take notes.

Since reviewing the material shown in this module, I have begun to distinguish when I should write my notes as opposed to typing them. There are many positives and negatives to both typing and writing my notes, and this module helped me realize there are different situations in which I should use one or the other. For example, when preparing notes for a class that requires a lot of graphs and such, it is much easier to write them out rather than type or use a computer, because i will end up spending more time trying to insert the graphs into my notes instead of just drawing them out.

In the future I will continue to use this process of distinguishing when to use typed notes or when to write them. I have many classes yet to take and this skill will be crucial in my studies.

My advice to students is not to listen when someone tells you that you always have to write your notes in order to pertain information. There are many benefits that come with typing your notes. Just be wise in when you type rather than write!
