Module 6

The most useful part I learned from this module was the ideas about how to search for information and different techniques of doing so. When it comes to doing big assignments such as research papers in college, finding sources and information effectively that is credible is crucial. I feel this module really helped break down the best ways to search for information for assignments like this.

Something i have already begun to put into place specifically from this module is the idea of forming a great research question when doing a research paper. Without a good question, the whole research project will fail. Ideas such as narrowing down the topics, background reading, and identifying the purpose of the question itself helped me learn what it takes to form a good research question,

In the future, I will continue to practice these ideas in forming my research questions in order to ensure my question is effective, setting me up for great success on the paper itself. This is what will keep me from having anxiety when it comes to writing these papers, I will be much more prepared to write them with these tactics.

My advice to other students is to identify what sources you are using in your papers carefully. Do not assume every source you read is credible. And ask for help when needed in order to get the right sources!

Module 5 discussion

In this module the most important and influential thing I learned was about the art of note taking. I have come to understand that even though I feel as if I am really good at taking notes, the topics shown here in this module proved I can be better and always have room to improve in terms of how effectively I take notes.

Since reviewing the material shown in this module, I have begun to distinguish when I should write my notes as opposed to typing them. There are many positives and negatives to both typing and writing my notes, and this module helped me realize there are different situations in which I should use one or the other. For example, when preparing notes for a class that requires a lot of graphs and such, it is much easier to write them out rather than type or use a computer, because i will end up spending more time trying to insert the graphs into my notes instead of just drawing them out.

In the future I will continue to use this process of distinguishing when to use typed notes or when to write them. I have many classes yet to take and this skill will be crucial in my studies.

My advice to students is not to listen when someone tells you that you always have to write your notes in order to pertain information. There are many benefits that come with typing your notes. Just be wise in when you type rather than write!

Module 4

From the lesson here in module 4 from this week, the idea that I found to be the most useful to me was the idea of memory as a foundation for strategic studying. There was a lot of great content here in the lesson about how important it is to be able to memorize in order to study well and it also included some really great topics discussing how to be better at memorizing. It really helped me understand to effectively memorize and be able to find material in my brain later on to use.

A specific idea from this module I have already put into practice was learning new ways to be effective in my studying in terms of memorizing. I have come to realize I am not as great at memorizing as I could be, and this module really helped me start to put into practice new ways to effectively memorize.

In the future I hope to become extremely adapt at memorizing material in a way its easier to remember when I need it such as on an exam. I am always looking for new ways to strategically study and this module really helped me find some new ways to try to become more adapt at memorizing info.

My advice to students who are in my position would be to always allow your mind to find new ways to study and memorize materials. Do not feel as if you are limited to the normal and basic ways of studying and memorizing info. You can do any method that works for you!

Module 3

To students

The topic I found the most useful from the lesson here in module 3 would have to be the idea of time management, and learning how to better myself by managing my time more effectively. I have come to realize over the years that I tend to struggle with managing my time effectively. I usually allow work to consume the majority of my time, and my other tasks and free time are cut into because of this. This module I feel was useful because it helped me discover new ways to better manage my time. I saw where I am wasting time and where I could better use my time in certain places.

From this module I have already began to practice doing my homework consistently on a nightly basis rather than waiting until the last moment and cramming it in. By doing this I was much less stressed out about deadlines and actually completing them therefore allowing me to focus solely on doing them well.

From this module I hope to learn to set up tasks effectively. This module made me realize I underestimate a lot of my tasks and do not leave enough time to complete them, and hopefully in the future I can better set up these tasks and leave myself more time to complete them!

Based on what I learned in this module, my advice to other students would have to simply be plan your time out effectively, because in college you will have much less free time on your hands to complete tasks and fit in your daily lives. Find a way to not only complete all your tasks in a timely manner, but add some personal time into your schedule as well!

Hello world!- Module 2 Blog Post

In this module, the most useful thing that I learned and took away from the lesson was the idea of managing my interruptions. I have come to realize in my life, I am dealing with so many different interruptions and distractions that it is almost impossible to focus on my tasks and priorities. Whether the interruption come from work, school, family, friends, etc., they still arise too often, and I feel that this lesson helped me learn how to adapt to these interruptions and not allow them to distract me from my tasks and goals.

Since learning the material in the module I have already begun to adapt to managing my interruptions. For example, while doing all my homework for the week, I turned off my phone, which helped me keep focus on my assignments and not feel as if I needed to constantly check it!

Some ideas from the lesson I hope to put into practice in the future would be all skills from the online quiz we took, such as managing Procrastination, Goal Setting, etc. All the ideas from this quiz I feel will be beneficial to me in my college career and everyday life, so the sooner I implement the strategies from the quiz, the more successful I will be! For example, I will try to stop waiting until the last minute to do my homework. Also, I will use a planner to track all my assignments to set goals when to complete them.

If I could give advice to other students from after this module, I would strongly recommend staying on top of your assignments and not Procrastinating. This is not like high school where we could wait until the last minute for everything and still succeed, college is a whole different situation! I learned this over my years being in college, and adapting truly made me better, and this is crucial to know for any college student!

The video below came from the module, and I feel it is beneficial in learning how to deal with group members in a project who choose to not work hard. Group work and being able to collaborate is a skill needed in the real world, so this video really helps learning to deal with those lazy members!
