Service Reflection

This semester, I volunteered for ten and a half hours at the BuckeyeThon Dance Marathon. BuckeyeThon is a student run organization that raises money and awareness for children with cancer. Every year, BuckeyeThon hosts the Dance Marathon in order to raise money, and this year they raised a grand total of $1,704,184.19. I learned about this amazing opportunity through the Dunn Sports and Wellness Scholars Program. In order to participate in the Dance Marathon, I raised $250 for BuckeyeThon. During the Dance Marathon, I participated in several events such as, silent disco, gaga ball, and others, in order to raise money for BuckeyeThon. Through this experience I learned how impactful events like these can be since BuckeyeThon was able to raise $1,704,184.19 for children with cancer. As a leader, volunteering for this organization has shown me that great things can be accomplished when people are brought together. Because of service learning, I am more aware of the impact organizations can have on the community.
