Physical Wellness: Healthy Eating

Physical wellness allows a person to engage in activities of daily living without experiencing undue fatigue or exhaustion. The physical dimension of wellness is supported through health behaviors, which include exercise, eating a healthy diet, limiting alcohol intake, not smoking, and getting adequate sleep each night.

ACCORDING TO SOGARI ET AL (2018; https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6315356/): Common barriers to healthy eating in college students include time constraints, unhealthy snacking, convenience high-calorie food, stress, high prices of healthy food, and easy access to junk food. Conversely, enablers to healthy eating include knowledge of nutrition, meal planning, involvement in food preparation, and being physically active.

Encourage students to recognize the importance of nutrition, especially as it relates to their overall well-being!
