First Semester at OSU

College has been a good experience for me so far. It is still kind of a mess, but I am starting to figure it out. Before I came to OSU I was super nervous for college. I didn’t know what to expect. I was super worried I wouldn’t make any friends and that I would fail all of my classes. So far, I think I’m doing great! All my classes are going super well and I have made amazing friends! In general college is weird because it is a huge gap from high school. In high school, everyone still treats you like children, but in college you have a lot more freedom. Also, you can take cooler classes in college. The overall transition from high school to college wasn’t super bad, which I was thankful for. I think taking AP classes helped me a lot.

I am super glad I did Humanities Scholars. It is really nice to have all the opportunities we do, and the sense of community. It is also nice because it makes OSU seem much smaller. Another great thing about humanities is it let me meet my friends! In the future, I’m excited to get to do even more actives like Buckeyethon. I also hope I will get to do something with volunteering soon, because I like stuff like that.

Overall, I have had a good college experience so far and I’m excited to see what more is in store. I hope to meet even more people and have even more great experiences! I’m glad I decided to come to OSU, and I’m ready to see what else it has to offer!

What’s your story?

“I grew up in Harleysville Pennsylvania. I have two sisters, and a mini poodle. My family is Pennsylvania Dutch and we like to play hide the pickle. I really like pickles and I’m craving one right now. My favorite food is potato pancakes. I was to travel to the Amazon, it’s my dream vacation. Uhhh, I’m not sure what else to say… I can roll my stomach!” –Lizzie Wilson

Artifacts

OSU is very large, but finding my way around campus was actually pretty easy. Unfortunately my major is Environmental Science, so some of my classes are on AG campus. I mapped it and that is 1.5miles from my dorm. It did force me to learn about the buses. The first time I got on the bus I picked the wrong one and ended up by the morgue on King and Cannon. I got to AG campus eventually, don’t worry. Another thing that is kinda unfortunate is lack of AC in my dorm. I get hot easily, so I was not super excited to learned that Baker Hall East has no AC. Also it doesn’t have AC, but it does have cockroaches! Yay. I’m allergic to cockroaches, but I don’t plan on eating or petting one anytime soon so I think I will be ok. My room is decent, it’s kinda a mess already because I’m not very organized. Maybe I will become organized at college

Overall my first week went pretty well. I really like all my classes, except math, and I’m super excited for the rest of the semester. Everyone has been really nice and helpful when I literally have no clue what I’m doing. I’m excited to join clubs, go to the RPAC, and hopefully make some friends. I guess we will see!
