Funding Opportunities – topics include Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis, Breast Cancer, and Combat Casualty Care

The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) invites the research community to view a webinar series on funding opportunities in both research and career development.  The first of these webinars “Funding Opportunities and Strategies for Success”, participants will learn how to find the latest CDMRP funding opportunities, how to navigate a program announcement (funding opportunity announcement), and use what they learn to create a competitive application. Over the next four months, webinars covering topics from innovative research applications to clinical research will be published.

The Program Announcements are available electronically for downloading from the Grants.gov website (http://www.grants.gov), the CDMRP website (https://cdmrp.army.mil/funding/prgdefault.shtml) and the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) (https://eBRAP.org).

All CDMRP funding opportunities, both recently and previously released, are available on the CDMRP website (https://cdmrp.army.mil).

A listing of all open CDMRP funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420.

ABSTRACT DEADLINES

  • The Columbus Surgical Society is holding their annual Presidential Symposium on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 8am-12pm in the Ross Heart Hospital Auditorium, Room H1213.  Residents and fellows from all surgical specialty training programs are invited to submit abstracts on clinical or basic science research topics.  Unpublished material is preferred.  The deadline for submission is Friday, February 8, 2019.  Abstracts can be submitted by fax at 614-755-2127 or by email at colssurgsoc@sbcglobal.net. We anticipate a program of fourteen presentations selected from the submitted abstracts. The format will be a ten minute presentation by the resident, with a five minute discussion led by an attending staff. The Columbus Surgical Society will award cash prizes for winning papers. Cash awards, along with a plaque commemorating the event, will be presented to the resident or fellow at the Annual Banquet to be held at a venue yet to be determined. All participating residents and fellows are invited to attend the banquet.
  • The 2019 American Public Health Association annual meeting will be held November 2-6, 2019 in Philadelphia, PA.  Abstract deadlines for this meeting vary by thematic section, and tend to fall between February 19- 24.  For more information, see: https://apha.confex.com/apha/2019/cfp.cgi
  • ACS Clinical Congress 2019: The Call for Abstracts and Videos for Clinical Congress 2019, October 27–31 in San Francisco, is now open.
    The Owen H. Wangensteen Scientific Forum offers researchers the opportunity to present the results of their original, basic science, clinical, education, health sciences, and translational research.
    The Video-Based Education Sessions aim to educate surgeons and members of surgical teams in order to improve the care of the surgical patient as well as safeguard the standards of care in an optimal practice environment.
    Start submitting abstracts and videos today. The last day to submit abstracts and videos is Friday, March 1 at 11:59 pm (CST).
