NEWS:

The Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) steering committee would like to invite you to attend a 2 hour mentorship workshop on March 20th (9:30 -11:30 am).

WIMS has invited Prof. Audrey J. Murrell Ph.D. to the College of Medicine and OSU Wexner Medical Center on March 19-20th  2019. This 2 day visit is co-sponsored by the Women’s Place and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Audrey Murrell is a Professor of Business Administration, Psychology, Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. She serves as the Associate Dean at the college of Business Administration and the Director of the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership. She is a nationally renowned expert on metorship.

Prof.  Murrell will provide a 2 hour workshop (9:30-11:30 am) on March 20th at the Ross Heart Auditorium, with a focus on building a mentorship portfolio.

This workshop, sponsored by WIMS, is limited to 35 faculty. There are still spots available which will be filled on a first come first serve basis, so please send in your self-nomination with a short paragraph on why you would like to attend.

WIMS would also like you to disseminate what you learn at this workshop back to the faculty in your department or divisions and/or potentially serve on future panels for WIMS workshops.

We are currently accepting applications-Due March 25, 2019

PI Applicant must be OSU Faculty 

IPR offers seed grants to nurture research projects consistent with IPR’s mission to promote population science research.  IPR favors multi-disciplinary collaboration.  We especially encourage applications from junior faculty, and from faculty new to population and health research.

Funding for this seed grant program is drawn primarily from our NICHD P2C award.  See below for the scientific mission of the NICHD Population Dynamics Branch [PDB].  Priority is given to research which falls within one or more of IPR’s four thematic areas:  (i) Sexual and Reproductive Health;  (ii) Family Demography;  (iii) Mortality and Health over the Life Course;  (iv) Migration. ABSTRACT DEADLINES

  • The Columbus Surgical Society is holding their annual Presidential Symposium on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 8am-12pm in the Ross Heart Hospital Auditorium, Room H1213.  Residents and fellows from all surgical specialty training programs are invited to submit abstracts on clinical or basic science research topics.  Unpublished material is preferred.  The deadline for submission is Friday, February 8, 2019.  Abstracts can be submitted by fax at 614-755-2127 or by email at colssurgsoc@sbcglobal.net. We anticipate a program of fourteen presentations selected from the submitted abstracts. The format will be a ten minute presentation by the resident, with a five minute discussion led by an attending staff. The Columbus Surgical Society will award cash prizes for winning papers. Cash awards, along with a plaque commemorating the event, will be presented to the resident or fellow at the Annual Banquet to be held at a venue yet to be determined. All participating residents and fellows are invited to attend the banquet.
