The career website I choose is Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Operator and Metrology Calibration Technician (In fact, the careers website show is not quite fit for me, I choose relatively better). Personally speaking, the only job I want is doing scientific research (in physics). If I have to choose another one, I prefer the work which has a strong relationship with logical analysis. These two jobs need strong analytical skills too.

The general process of CADD is using computers to help designers take on tasks such as calculations, information storage, and drawing. In the design, it is usually necessary to use a computer to perform a large number of calculations, analysis, and comparisons of different schemes to determine the optimal decisions. The central idea of this work is conforming to my values, keep logical thinking to get the answer.

The main work Metrology Calibration Technician should do is engaged in metrological verification, inspection, testing, electrical measurement, calibration, maintenance, repair, and weighing. If it is a simple measurement, you do not need too professional knowledge, you only need to master the analysis method of general error. If it is a high-tech measurement, such as electrical measurement, then you have to read extra books. It is also a very delicate job and requires a logical mind to find errors.

Comparing these to physics. What these two things have in common is that they all need to think step by step. The difference is that physics requires more research and time, and sometimes you need innovation to expand your scientific research. What physics touches me most is discover unknown things (especially astrophysics), although sometimes it makes me feel scared. I think it is exciting and this is also a challenge for me.

I have not paid much attention to the issue of salary, but as I grow up, I understand that this is a very practical issue, and I have to face it.

The salary of CADD varies with time, $15.25/h for one year, $17.09/h for 1-4 years, $20.60/h for 5-9 years, $22.14/h for10-19years, $25/h for 20 years, and higher (these may be different because of location). I am quite satisfied with the overall upward trend because it has good potential.

The salary of Metrology Calibration Technician is quite similar but with higher starting, $18.28/h for one year, $20.03 /h for 1-4 years, $22.67 /h for 5-9 years, $24.87 /h for10-19years, $28 /h for 20 years, and higher. Overall, this trend is also very nice.

The conclusion is these two jobs are all excellent, but job satisfaction is the most important to me. The feeling of exploring the unknown can’t experience in other work. Also, physics for me has a special meaning, before, my father studied physics in college. Because the difference between college physics and high school physics was too big, so he went to learn the computer. Not continuing in physics is a pity for him. I hope I can learn physics my father once gave up and make up for this regret.

I’m a boring person. I like to take an efficient and concise approach. My hobbies are not many. My food preference is simple, I love all meat food (that’s why I say I am a boring person). If talking about my sports preferences, I like running because it is the most efficient way to exercise. I have participated in half marathon to challenge myself. I sing and play guitar occasionally in the music aspect. It always calms me down when I’m in bad mood. My favorite place to go is the seaside because I like the feeling in the water, It gives me a cool and smooth feeling. When I am at home, I also play video games to kill time. This can relax my brain.

I lived in Shandong with my grandparents before I was 6 years old. After that, I started living in Beijing with my parents. My primary school, middle school, and high school were all in Beijing. Beijing is a very nice city with all kinds of beautiful buildings and delicious food. The only disadvantage is that the city is too crowded. I have been to some countries, such as South Korea, the United States, and Singapore. What impresses me most about those places is that the food is delicious and the culture is wonderful. An interesting thing I meet is that I ran home from kindergarten when I was 5 years old. This is a wonderful thrilling of the memory, I can still remember now.

My major is physics. At the same time, I also want to study mathematics, which can help me with my physics study. In the University, I hope to participate in some mathematical physics competitions to make up for my regret that I failed in the high school competition. I hope to do scientific research in the future, So I will try to get a better degree and spend more time on physical activities. If I have more time, I might study psychology. I think it can provide me more information to have better communication with my friends.
