[May 8, 2018]  Ramaiah, A., Koralur, M.C. and Dasch, G.A. Complexity of type-specific 56 kDa antigen CD4 T-cell epitopes of Orientia tsutsugamushi strains causing scrub typhus in India. PLoS ONE 13 (4), e0196240 (2018).   This is a very valuable analysis that details new ways to extract information from studies of the 56kD type specific antigen.

[March 26, 2018]  Saraswati K, Day NPJ, Mukaka M, Blacksell SD (2018) Scrub typhus point-of-care testing: A systematic review and meta-analysis. PLoS Negl Trop Dis 12(3): e0006330A meta-analysis of point-of care testing is reported, focusing on commercially available immunochromatography tests (ICTs).  ICTs have low false positive rates, and perform better when `ruling in’ a positive diagnosis rather than `ruling out’ a negative diagnosis.  Some care must be applied since the studies reviewed displayed wide variation in both methodology and quality.
