Week 2 (Lesson 6/7/16)

Sorry about the late update! I have my lesson practice spliced together, just need to get into iMovie and upload it at work! I will try to start posting after each lesson though and just upload the video later. Writing the blogs doesn’t take up much data. Any who, after this lesson we added eight notes (oh no!) and a new cord. For C major it is known as the IV cord, or the F cord. This weeks lesson continued to focus on being able to shift seamlessly to different cords with my left hand while adjusting to eight notes in my right hand.

Here is la video!

Week 1 (Lesson 5/31/16)

This is the first week of my S.T.E.P. Project! Later tonight/tomorrow I will add a video of me playing the assigned pieces. Obviously with any first lesson on an instrument I learned some of the basics–finger positions, the treble and bass clefs, and well as the concepts of cords (base cord, 1st inversions, and second inversions). So far this has been a great experience and I am excited to continue forward! This coupled with my MGPI internship has been enough to keep me busy all summer. This week I got to play some easy tunes like Ode to Joy, and When the Saints Go Marching In. I still have to figure out how to upload videos, as my Aunt and Uncle do not have wifi, and the upload speeds at McDonalds are nothing short of painful, but I will keep you posted!

Here is the video! I took this two nights ago–I promise I have improved for my lesson tomorrow. It is surprising hard to record myself too! Playing for the camera is a little weird but I guess I will have to get used to it.

S.T.E.P.

This page is where I will be keeping track of my Second Year Experience Program! So far, I have purchased a Yamaha P-45 Digital Piano! My first lesson is on Tuesday with my instructor, and I will let you know how it goes!
