Click on this link to check out some pictures from/of my service site experience from my second year in Mount. I was able to volunteer at Broad Street Food Pantry for a few months and got to love and serve those in the community. It was a great time being able to serve and it offered some new perspective seeing how exactly is a non-profit run. A typical day would be a 40 min commute bus ride and a ten minute walk in the city of Columbus every Friday morning. Then I would start with other volunteers, or even training new ones at the time, preparing for the waves of people and shipments of food to arrive. We interacted with those in the community in the pantry as if we were shopping with them. This enabled us to have conversations and get to know about them even more instead of just passing food off to them and letting them go. The experience was incredible and I’m so thankful to have had it.
