Synopsis

Click on this link to check out some pictures from/of my service site experience from my second year in Mount. I was able to volunteer at Broad Street Food Pantry for a few months and got to love and serve those in the community. It was a great time being able to serve and it offered some new perspective seeing how exactly is a non-profit run. A typical day would be a 40 min commute bus ride and a ten minute walk in the city of Columbus every Friday morning. Then I would start with other volunteers, or even training new ones at the time, preparing for the waves of people and shipments of food to arrive. We interacted with those in the community in the pantry as if we were shopping with them. This enabled us to have conversations and get to know about them even more instead of just passing food off to them and letting them go. The experience was incredible and I’m so thankful to have had it.

Artifacts

win_20161115_15_37_10_pro This shows my little collection of pins. The O is from one of the first days of school. The big red one is from the Mount initiation ceremony and the H&S pin is from the orientation of honors and scholars students.  I chose these because I am proud to be a student here at this college, and everyday I look at being here with so many opportunities as an achievement. I also am very grateful to be apart of such wonderful programs for both of my scholars groups as well. I think why I hold these so dearly is because both programs and being here at OSU has helped shape me in a better way

This is called an AEV and it is used in the first engineering course. For this latest update I finally got into the college of engineering now at the end of my sophomore year and it has been something. The challenges are there but so is the hope, determination, and passion to keep learning, I plan to keep pursuing engineering, but as to which one is my next question.

This is from one of the coolest events for engineering I have ever gone to. Right now the track I am in for engineering is geared towards material science, but at this event I actually got to make connections with huge companies like Amazon and see what are they looking for in an employee.
