Self-reflection is an important part of the social change process. Our 90-minute Social Identity 101 workshop offers participants a guided opportunity to dive deeper into understanding their social identities and privileges. Participants will learn how social identity connects to oppression, debunk the myth of reverse oppression, and identify ways they can leverage privilege(s) and/or power for advocacy and social change.
Microaggressions 101
April 19, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Virtual
This 90-minute workshop offers participants the opportunity to learn more about Microaggressions. Microaggressions cause harm in every workplace. Yet many of us remain confused about what a microaggression is, how to know if one is happening/has happened, and the numerous ways microaggressions impact others. This 90-minute workshop offers a deep dive into microaggressions, microaggressive terminology, and the impacts of microaggressions in our everyday lives. By offering participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge of microaggressions, our workshop aims to encourage the understanding, compassion, and confidence necessary to identify microaggressions and intervene when they are happening.
Microaggressions and Me
May 11, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Virtual
When learning about microaggressions, many of us wonder how we can intervene when we experience or witness a microaggression. But what do we do when someone tells us we are the person enacting a microaggression? How can we practice dismantling microaggressions in our everyday self-expression at work? How do we hold ourselves and each other accountable empathetically and consistently? This 90-minute workshop offers participants an opportunity to reflect on the ways all of us can perpetuate microaggressions and will explore how to move forward once we’ve been made aware of the microaggressions we perpetuate. Participants will build skills such as crafting meaningful apologies, learning to understand and say what we really mean, and strategies for holding ourselves accountable.
Microinterventions
June 15
In-person at Conference
This 90-minute workshop focuses on how we can address microaggressions. Participants will learn microintervention strategies that can be used when we experience or witness a microaggression, as well as strategies for how to hold ourselves accountable and offer meaningful apologies if we are told we’ve enacted a microaggression. This is an interactive workshop, and participants will have numerous opportunities to practice these strategies as well as reflect on how they can use them moving forward.
Navigating Difficult DEI Conversations
July 25, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Virtual
This 90-minute workshop offers participants the opportunity to practice the dialogue-building skills and de-escalation techniques introduced in our Navigating Difficult DEI Conversations workshop. Participants will be given different workplace scenarios and will collaborate with one another to apply these dialogue-building and de-escalation skills in real-time.

May 2019 OSUAP Bi-Monthly Meeting: Enterprise Project Review
Thanks to all of those that were able to travel over to South Campus Gateway for the meeting last Friday and to those that were able to join via WebEx. William Ashley and Janis Wolens, Members of the Enterprise Project Organizational Change Management team provided us with invaluable information on the upcoming roll out of Workday. Workday will unify most of the current systems we use on a daily basis into a “one-stop” working environment instead of the many systems we navigate in order to accomplish our daily work tasks.
William spoke about the Enterprise Project and presented the group with a PowerPoint presentation outlining the Workday model and how it will be used by faculty and staff. A University-wide marketing campaign will kick off in October 2019 to inform staff of Workday initiatives. Keep an eye out during this time on communications and outreach to faculty and staff. The timeline for Workday to go live to all faculty and staff is projected for the summer of 2020. Gradual role out to students to be performed in 2021 – 2022.
William and Janis were very gracious in sharing the PowerPoint presentation with us after the meeting. Here is the PowerPoint presentation.
