Mission Statement

OSUAP is a self-organized group of Ohio State administrative staff who recognize the value of our contributions to our departments, units, and by extension, to the university. We are committed to ongoing professional development and networking to facilitate our professional growth, while positively impacting our supervisors, and coworkers, and supporting the mission and vision of the University through our shared values.

Primary Goals:

  • Align activities with the University’s goals and values
  • Encourage professional development
  • Leadership development
  • Network with peers

We are committed to catering to our members per the Fall 2022 Member Survey. OSUAP provides bi-monthly professional development opportunities in accessible formats. By providing these opportunities, networking, and community building, we are taking steps to promote professional development, develop leaders, and fulfill the overarching goals of the University.

2024-2025 Priorities

  1. Provide bi-monthly professional development opportunities, including social / networking events and conference (June 13, 2024)
  2. Inception of the Administrative Excellence Award program
  3. Implement strategic fundraising for OSUAP
  4. Successful election with the new process in summer 2024
  5. Conceptualize a Professional Development Program and working group

2023-2024 Priorities and Outcomes

  1. Provide bi-monthly professional development opportunities
    • DEI Series: March, April, May, June, July
    • “Driving Your Development” in September
    • University Staff Advisory Committee in October
    • Emotional Intelligence in November
  2. Increase engagement from members, such as work groups
    • Creation of three new work groups
    • Existing work group involvement increased (Conference Planning)
    • 23% membership increase
  3. Create networking opportunities, through coffee meetups and happy hours
    • Social event: February coffee hour
    • In-person conference
    • In-person EI Session
    • Re-evaluating in 2024
      • Unfortunately, attendance was very sparse at the hosted event in February and November. There were about 15% of registrants for the conference that did not attend, as well.
  4. Implement updated Mentorship Program: January 2023
    • Hosted monthly peer mentorship opportunities, some had more than one session due to high demand
      • Unfortunately, curated content and work group member availability did not always provide opportunity for multiple sessions
    • Re-evaluating in 2024 for further development of the program
  5. Provide in-person annual conference: June 15, 2023
  6. Plan for 2024
    • Social events and speed networking
    • New work group
    • OSUAP continuity
