Steps and Map – Treasure Hunt – Project One (2130)

Instruction:

Gain progress towards the final project submission.

Purpose:

Explore your treasure hunt instructions and the treasure itself. Write down important notes.

My Interpretation:

I wrote down my steps so I could keep them on hand easier, and I scribbled down some thoughts as I passed by each step. After I Found my treasure (Connecting Grounds Café), I decided to crate a small map to visualize where I went and the important/mentioned landmarks mentioned in the instructions. The green path is the ending, correct path, the dotted red path is the incorrect paths I took, and the blue are the important locations.

Elements of Design Guide – 2d Priciples and Squares – Project Two (2110)

Instruction:

Using the 15 elements of design, create a guide in a 2.5″ by 2.5″ square. Each square should represent one element.

Purpose:

Deeply understand the use of elements of design, why they’re important, and how they may look. This can be turned back to in cases where a reminder of the elements is necessary.

My Interpretation:

Each square is my personal take on the 15 elements. See above. The element being portrayed is written atop the columns of squares.

Designer Bio – Iterations – Project One (2110)

Instruction:

Create a bio for yourself. Publish it to your site.

Purpose:

Focus on P.A.C.H. and use the limited tools you have to explore and create a source of information to convey to others. Use important information and whatever else you deem necessary.

My Interpretation:

I split my bio into objective and subjective things. I opened with the facts of my life, where I was born, what I’m going to school for and so on. In the second section I focus on interests and more personal aspects about myself that I think others should know.

Exercise – Encasement

Instruction:

Encase the given shapes within a polygon.

Purpose:

Explore the fundamentality of everything and how complex objects can be broken down into simpler and simpler shapes.

My Interpretation:

All the shapes could devolve into a simple shape. It is easier and more effective to view drawing things as their fundamental shapes before their finer details.

Exercise – Making Something out of Nothing

Instruction:

Scribble on a page without looking at it. Emphasize shapes you recognize.

Purpose:

get into the head space of a design student, see things for what they can be and what they are. Look beyond the surface.

My Interpretation:

Within my scribble I noticed four distinct shapes. Firstly, on the left page there is a single comet descending downwards. In the top right is a ghost-like figure accelerating off the page, upwards nd to the right. In the middle of the right page I highlighted a mother cradling her child. Finally, on the lower right is a large-nosed, large-foreheaded face staring down and to the left.
