Graduate Students

Darpan Verma

Darpan is a Ph.D. scholar in the Myers Group and joined our lab in January 2019. He is an expert in both semiconductor devices and process development along with the development of complicated optics and optoelectronic experiments. He has developed a photocurrent spectroscopy setup in our lab from its raw stage to the stage where we are now capable of taking polarization, spectral and spatially resolved photocurrent spectra for any type of 2d, and compound semiconductor materials with capabilities of mapping out the Electric fields in power electronic devices with few microns’ resolution. He is also adept at spectroscopy measurements, such as PL, EL, Absorption, Reflection, etc., and heads our optical lab. He is currently training other PhD students in setting up photocurrent spectroscopy at low temperature where they are performing spin injection/detection experiment in 2d materials, along with taking photocurrent scans at low temperature. Before joining our lab, he obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in Electrical and Computer Engineering where he did his thesis on designing a combination of fin-type transverse-thermoelectric and solar cell module to solve the problem of heating of solar cells along with increasing the overall efficiency.

Md Mohsinur Rahman Adnan

Adnan obtained his bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2016 and his masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in 2019. He started his career as a Lecturer of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology back in 2016, where he is currently an Assistant Professor (on leave).  He started his journey at the OSU as a Fall 2019 intake for his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Adnan joined MyersGroup back in Fall of 2019. He works on Optoelectronic Characterization of Wide Bandgap Materials and Devices. He has been contributing heavily on the computational and modeling side of the “Spectral Electric Field Mapping” project. He also works in collaboration with Prof. Enam A Chowdhury on Ultrafast High intensity Laser Pulse Interaction with Materials at Femto Solid Laboratory.  There he performs experiments and carries out modeling studies to understand the dynamics of creation of Warm Dense Matter (WDM) phase of planet-building materials.

Alexandra Fonseca

Alexandra obtained her B.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez Campus in May 2021. There she worked with the synthesis and characterization of lignin-based polymers for photovoltaics applications as well as the synthesis of nano-treated alloys. She joined the Myers group in August 2021 where she is currently working on molecular beam epitaxy of thin films for exploring electronic, optical, and magentic properties of low dimensional defects, including growth of II-VI and magnetic oxide semiconductors.

Alexander Blackston

Alexander obtained his B.S. in Physics from Marietta College in May 2022, where he helped research adsorbate induced effects on surface resistivity in gold thin films. He joined the Myers group in August 2022 where he works in our optical lab and is gaining skills in photocurrent spectroscopy, microelectronic device processing, and conducting non-local spin current measurements at low temperatures.”
