To discuss this topic today, We’ve invited a child abuse expert. Dr Kristin Crichton is a child abuse pediatrician at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. She is also an expert educator training the next generation of physicians as an associate program director of the pediatric residency and the child abuse fellowship.

But even more important are recent developments in tactics to prevent progression of renal failure in patients with chronic kidney disease, thus avoiding or delaying the need for dialysis. Many of these new preventive concepts have only emerged in the past three or four years. Consequently, most of us did not learn about them during medical school and residency. So today, we’re going to update you in the management of chronic kidney disease. And to do it, we’re pleased to welcome back Dr. Rima Kang, a nephrologist and assistant professor of internal medicine at the Ohio State University.

Here at Ohio State University, we are fortunate to have several addiction experts to share their extensive knowledge on the subject. We have two of them here today, to discuss the important topic of Addiction, stigma, and person-first language. Dr. Julie Teater is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry specializing in Addiction Medicine. She also started and runs the first Addiction Medicine fellowship in Ohio and serves as the medical director of Talbot Hall- Ohio State University’s drug and alcohol treatment center. And We have Dr. Orman Trent Hall who is an Assistant professor of Psychiatry, also specializing in addiction medicine. Trent has served as the clinical lead for inpatient addiction medicine consult services at Ohio State University East Hospital and is a clinician researcher studying the relationship between chronic pain & addiction, addiction stigma, and epidemiology of overdose.
