I was first attracted to experimental condensed matter physics in general and spintronics in particular while doing undergraduate research. Different people have different reasons for going into science. For me, being able to come up with an experiment which tests an outstanding question, design and create unique instrumentation which allows you to explore the problem and carry out the conclusive scientific study is highly empowering and satisfying.
Since joining Dr. Kawakami’s lab, I worked on MBE growth and angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) studies of novel 2D materials germanane and germanene. More recently, I am studying magnetic proximity effect in 2D materials and ferromagnetic oxide thin films. Outside of science, I enjoy motorcycle racing, table tennis, video games and reading.
