ESLTECH 2011 Summary

The class had some bumps and downs but, also as all good times. The bad part of the class was when the study manager app basically crashed on my phone. I loved that app it had me all on top of my math homework it was one of my S.M.A.R.T. goals I wanted to work on and the app was helping. The good side about the class was the Trello app it was with Gmail so I got the notifications across my screen unlike the study manager app it was constant reminders. Overall the ESLTECH 2011 class has been an overall success for my people skills and education skills I feel like I improved all year.

Maintaining Motivation Blog Post

The most useful thing I learned from this module is that there are different ways to get motivated and my favorite way was to go to a quiet place and listen to some music. I like that way because for me to get motivated do something I need music it’s gets me going everyday especially when my favorite song comes on in my AirPods. Also when I’m working I like peace and quiet because people tend to talk really loud or mess with me and when that’s going on I really can’t focus. Something I’ve already put into use is shutting down my distractions the most common place is my dorm is where I get distracted the most. I tend to just rome off and play the PS4 sometimes I also get so bored and distracted I just sent on my iPad and play games until I fall asleep so what I do to remind myself not to do these habits is don’t cut the TV on at all and I set reminders in my phone to tell myself get off the iPad. It’s worked out pretty good so far I’m getting homework done faster, getting to places I need to be on time, also my sleeping is better because I would play the game all night. One thing I could put into use for the future is making a playlist with good vibes and soothing music so I can stay focused and motivated. I would tell students don’t stay up all night playing the game and make sure you get your work done and stay motivated to getting it done because if not you could receive a bad grade.

Searching and Researching Blog Post

The most useful thing I learned from this module is that when your doing an academic paper you have a good source for your research paper. There are different ways to find a good research question and you have to make sure your source is really reliable. Some things I’ve put into place already is ways to write your paper. You have to make sure take a lot of notes over your topic find a credible resource for your topic and also for your research question because if you don’t your not gonna have enough information for your paper. Also another thing I put into use is when your taking notes outline important information so it sticks in your head for when you do it. The advice that I would give students based on what I read is that when your doing an academic paper you have make sure you have accurate information if not your gonna miss a lot of points on it because it’s happened to me in the past but, since I’ve found some new ways I’ve been doing better. Another thing of advice is that outlining your paper and notes really can help you with your mistakes and what you need to add to the paper.

Web-Enhanced Listening and Viewing Strategies Blog Post

There are numerous of things I’ve learned from this module and one of them is that taking is a major part of college. In the module it states that a large information is covered during the week that you need to learn so that you have it for later it’ll help on test, quizzes, and finals because without going to class or not taking notes at all it could hurt you in the long run. Another thing I learned is that there are different apps and devices to take notes so that if your not comfortable there’s multiple ways to take them. An example I’ve put in to use already is the note taking on my device. I’m used to taking notes on paper coming from high school and now some of my peers has told me to use this app called notability for taking notes. It’s working great because I can use my Apple Pencil and the application and take notes way faster now because it’s just like drawing or writing on a white board like normal. A thing I would love to work on in the future is my active listening. I would love to work on it because sometimes I may get distracted and lose track of what I’m doing so I gotta stay engaged on learning and listening about the subject the whole time. The advice I would give some students is that you have to show up to class to get the lecture every week for you to understand the topic that’s going and note taking is a very crucial part of your classes if you don’t take a significant of amount taking notes you will not understand the subject.

Web-Enhanced Reading and Study Strategies Blog Post

The most useful thing I learned from this module is that even though you’re on an electronic device doesn’t mean you can’t do read or do as well as you would on a hard cover book. An example is that I highlight key ideas in the text and I do most of my work on my IPad so we have so many tools on their to help us memorize our work and readings. I’ve put the use of mnemonics music method for studying and when I read passages I try to put key words references from the passage I’ve read and sing the phrases in my song. I will put the diagrams idea into future references because it might help a lot if I don’t understand something in the passage I’m reading. You can break down parts of the story and put them in a diagrams of important information. The advice I would give students is that if your adapted to technology reading there’s easier ways to understand the text or the work so if you ever get stuck you just have to think of ways to help you through the process some ways like key ideas, use your highlighter on your notability application, and also you can just quiz yourself so you can know the story better for the future assignments.

Efficiency in the Digital Age Blog Post

The most useful thing I learned from this module is to manage my time wisely. I have to be committed to doing my task if not I shouldn’t put it on my schedule cause then it takes up my day if I’m trying to work on a tight schedule the whole day if I’m not committed to getting it done. A specific module I’ve put into use already is reducing digital distractions. An example is my iPad I use it for my homework I get off task sometimes and play games on it sometimes so in results I deleted all my games on my device now I’m always focused and on task. Also I set reminders on my phone to stay focused and don’t doze off and fall asleep because I be so exhausted from football  .The advice I give students after reading this module is manage your time wisely and just be attached and devoted every day to your calendar. Also I know technology is everything but you got to turn it off it’s our biggest distraction turn the notifications, turn your ringer off, and just a set time where you can have a little bit of free time so that you won’t just be stuck doing work with break.

Communicating and Collaborating

Module two focused on communication and collaborating also I’m going to discuss some things I learned about it. The most useful thing I found in this module is how to communicate from an email, one thing that really stood out to me is when the slide said make sure you present yourself in the best way it doesn’t matter if it’s the first impression or just an email to your best friend. It’s also one of toughest communication methods because it’s really removing the suit and tie deal now its all-digital and therefore it’s your first impression. An item from this module I’ve put into use already is communicating online, I cut down on the capitalizing letters which means that you’re yelling, but I really wasn’t trying to, so easy stuff like that. Also my sarcasm I do it a lot to my friends when I text them I’ve already cut a lot of it out so I really want to keep improving on it. I would want to practice group communication because I really don’t work well in groups I’m more of an individual worker, so when group has a project at the semester I’ll make sure I use all my online tools and strategies the module suggested me and put into our group. Based on what I’ve read from this module and for students you want to be professional no matter if its texting someone, emailing your teacher, or doing a group project.
