Hello everyone. Library is an important part of your life in college. It provides useful resources and aid you on your study. But as a freshman, everything in the school seems new and unfamiliar, how do we utilize those resources?
Borrow book in OSU library

The common impression of a library’s function is borrowing books. To borrow a book in the OSU library,you can first look them up on the OSU library website to see if they have that book. This can be easily done by using the search on the main page of OSU library website. Now click on the book you want; the next page would give you the basic information of the book and its location in the library. Then if that is what you want, go to “request this item”, choose a pick up location and just walk in at the right time, the book will be in your hands. It would save a bunch of time for you to actually “find” a book in the library.
Study room reserve

Library is also an excellent place for both self-study and group study. You can just walk into a library, find an empty seat, and start doing your own stuff. You can also have a nice, quiet small study room in the library by reserve. It’s an extremely simple procedure. In the link “reserve a room” on OSU library website, you can search the available room by time and location. This is a great service and I strongly recommend it while you are doing a group project. But remember to plan early. It’s a popular service and room runs out quick. Don’t wait until the last day.
Citation help
Academic integrity is highly valued in college. So, it is vital to have proper citation in the paper we wrote to avoid plagiarism. Fortunately, the library offered us a “citation help”. The OSU library website provided the guidance of some citation management software and examples of some popular citation style. It can be easily accessed by the link “citation help” on OSU library website. besides, you can always check your paper with your professor to turn to writing center for help. Make sure the citation is correct is not only shows respect to the original author, but also made sure you are free from trouble.
Printer service
Lastly, you can always find computers and printers in any OSU library. They can be accessed by your buckID or your username and passcode. In case you need one in the school, remember they are there.
