Personal Profile

I’m Yizhen Jia, a student from China. My favorite sport is badminton. I started learning it just after I graduated from primary school. I like it because I found myself relaxed while playing it. it’s more than rivals and intense competition. But recently, I found something more interesting. That is cooking. Seeing your food change from raw ingredients to a meal is nothing but great. You also feel a sense of achievement after it is done. Besides, it makes my life better since I can have more choice for meal and it’s much cheaper than eating outside.

I had my high school in Beijing National Day School and went to the Sichuan University for two years before I came here. I traveled around China when I was still a little child. It’s a long time ago and I can’t really remember the details. But, before I leave Beijing for college, I spent more than a month to see all over the city. The most impressive view I saw was looking at the palace museum on a small hill behind during sunset. The palace under the sunset was just fabulous and you can see the entire royal palace and the city behind. To say the truth, I was shocked at that time. I lived in Beijing for more than 16 years and never ever thought about I can see such a scene.

But since now I am here in Ohio State, let’s talk about some current and future things. I am majoring in materials engineering here. I had chosen OSU because I thought the material science here is pretty good. And so does the school. I chose the materials since I think knowing what everything is made of and make changes of it is really interesting. And you even got a chance of creating something totally new.

  1. It is really nice to see someone who like cooking! Nice to meet you! Through your personal profile, I notice that you really like badminton which is a very popular sport in China. Maybe you can still stick to this here in OSU and make friends with the one who share the same interest with you! Also I think It is very important to learn to cook when studying abroad I think. Because when you are in a foreign country, you will miss dishes of your hometown! If you can cook for yourself, that is really nice!
