Activities

Free, optional cultural and educational activities promoted by the Teachers across Borders UFPR teacher education project during the three-week stay in Curitiba:

– Tandem (Portuguese – English) walking tours through university campuses and the city of Curitiba

– Educational and intercultural workshops/events on Portuguese as an additional language teaching-learning at the university (in Portuguese and English)

– Visits to local public schools

 

Other free, optional teacher education opportunities offered remotely through UFPR: 

– International Collaborative Critical Literacy Teacher Education Course:

A 60-hour hybrid teacher education course offered to Brazilian Portuguese and English teachers from local public schools and American schools, held in Portuguese and English. The course will offer discussions on teaching-learning an additional language, critical literacy, multiliteracies, and project pedagogy in asynchronous tasks on the Virtual UFPR platform, as well as synchronous meetings (Brazilians will be on campus, Americans online) on five Saturday mornings (dates TBA).

Brazilian and American participants will have the opportunity of developing, online and through web conferences, critical literacy projects, in small groups, to be implemented in English classes, in local public  schools in Curitiba. American teachers will be invited to visit schools during one or more classes (according to personal interest) to observe and interact with Brazilian students and teachers while in Curitiba.
