What is Ignite?

The special session:  “Ignite:  Best practice in classroom pronunciation” was established at CASPSLaP 2014.  It was such as success that the OSU organizers decided to maintain and expand it as part of the CASPSLaP 2016 program.

What is CASPSLaP?

Current Approach to Spanish and Portuguese Second Language Phonology (CASPSLaP) is a biennial conference brining together leading experts in the field of second language acquisition (SLA) of Spanish and Portuguese pronunciation.  By focusing on the breadth of approaches currently taken by scholars researching the SLA of Spanish and Portuguese phonology, this conference aims to present the state-of-the-art in second language phonological acquisition.

Details about Ignite 2016

Ignite 2016 was an interactive pedagogy-focused session during which participants presented brief (10-minute) micro-teaching lessons.  Attendees rotated through these five presentations in “speed dating” format.  The lessons showcased either (1) a specific pedagogical technique or (2) an activity with the purpose of teaching a particular sound or process or to help learners overcome a particular difficulty.

This website has been established to make the materials used in the Ignite session freely available to the community.  Please credit the creators if you use their materials; we have provided suggested citations for each lesson.  To cite the entire website, you may use:
