There is no doubt that band has and still does play a huge part in my life. Many of my most meaningful experiences, from competing to meeting new people to teaching, came from my experience as Drum Major. I was Drum Major of my high school marching band for three years beginning as a sophomore in 2013 until the end of my senior year in 2016. Not only have I learned a ton about music, but being Drum Major has taught me leadership skills, problem solving, and a few teaching skills. I will definitely miss being Drum Major, but I’m excited for new leadership opportunities at OSU.
