The Respiratory Mechanobiology lab is led by Dr. Samir Ghadiali, Professor and the chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the Ohio State University. The lab works in close collaboration with several investigators and physician-scientists in the Departments of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, Radiology, Pediatric Cardiology at Nationwide Children’s, and Materials Science and Engineering. The laboratory uses engineering, computational and molecular/cell biology techniques to investigate the mechano-biological mechanisms responsible for cardiopulmonary disease pathogenesis and is currently conducting translational research in the areas of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Ventilator-induced Lung Injury, Pulmonary Fibrosis and Cardiac Mechanobiology.
