Research Projects

The Respiratory Mechanobiology lab is led by Samir Ghadiali, Professor and the chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the Ohio State University. The lab works in close collaboration with several investigators and physician-scientists in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. The laboratory uses engineering, computational and molecular/cell biology techniques to investigate the mechano-biological mechanisms responsible for cardiopulmonary disease pathogenesis and is currently conducting translational research in the areas of Ventilation Induced Lung Injury, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Pulmonary Fibrosis and Cardiac Mechanobiology.
