Biophysics PhD student Jon Fritz has won a prestigious Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) predoctoral T32 fellowship! Jon is a member of the @ghadiali_lab and is advised by both Drs. Ghadiali and Englert. For his T32 project he will be using our novel ventilator-on-a-chip platform to investigate how mTOR inhibition alters cell membrane repair and injury. Congratulations Jon!
Jon Fritz receives Honorable Mention in NSF GRP competition
Congratulations to Jon Fritz, PhD student in the Ghadiali lab for receiving an Honorable Mention in the NSF GRP award competition this year!
Congratulations Dr. Fei!!
PhD student Qinqin Fei publishes new pulmonary drug delivery review
Congratulations to Qinqin on publishing a new review that highlights the advancements and challenges associated with drug/gene delivery in the lung during the acute respiratory distress syndrome in Pulmonary Pharmacology & Therapeutics
Happy Holidays!
Happy holidays! Remember that OSU will be closed 12/23 – 29/2021 and 12/31/2021 with very limited staffing on 12/30/2021.
Graduate Student Tricia Oyster Wins AHA Pre-doctoral Fellowship
Tricia Oyster, a PhD graduate research associate in Biomedical Engineering, has just won the prestigious American Heart Association Pre-doctoral Fellowship Award. This is a 2-year award that will support Tricia’s research in the fields of Pulmonary Drug Delivery and Ventilation Induced Lung Injury. For this award, she will be co-mentored by Dr. Samir Ghadiali (BME) and Dr. John Christman (Pulmonary/Critical Care) and will be using a combination of novel Lung-on-a-chip systems as well as in-vivo models of lung injury to investigate how altering microRNA expression is specific lung cell types, including alveolar macrophages, pulmonary epithelial cells and microvascular endothelial cells, can be used to prevent the mechanical injury that occurs during artificial ventilation. Please join me in congratulating Tricia on this award!
Ghadiali awarded $312K Department of Defense grant
Dr. Ghadiali and co-PI Joshua Englert, Assistant Professor, Pulmonary and Critical Care Division were awarded a DoD grant titled “Cell-Specific MicroRNA Regulation of Ventilation Induced Lung Injury during Hemorrhagic Shock.”
