G.O.A.L.S.

  • Global Awareness: In planning how I will complete my general education requirements I have chosen a selection of courses covering various cultures. If I am able to do it and still graduate in 4 year I would also like to take the opportunity to study abroad. I am not sure where I would like to go, but I’m sure it will be a great experience.
  • Original Inquiry: Although research is not usually a part of an actuarial science student’s college experience and for mathematics majors it tends to be relegated to graduate school, I think the knowledge that I gain in the area of statistics would allow me to help with analysis for other research projects. If possible I might like to look into being involved in research this way.
  • Academic Enrichment: I am and will continue to take a substantial number of honors and upper level courses throughout my academic career in pursuit of an industrious dual degree in mathematics and actuarial science.
  • Leadership Development: In various types of group work I like to take some form of leadership. Through the various group projects I will inevitably encounter and the discussion based setting that small sizes of honors classes lend themselves to I hope to further develop and exercise my leadership skills.
  • Service Engagement: In my junior year of high school I had to devote 24 hours of service to a single organization in order to get an in depth grasp of what the organization is doing and its impact on the community. For mine I volunteered at the Holy Rosary Saint John’s Community Kitchen, and I would like to continue to volunteer there in the future during my time at Ohio State.
