Jesse Ladanyi

I am currently a 5th year Ph.D. student. I study valence weighting bias, which is a person’s tendency to give greater weight to positive or to negative information when evaluating a novel or ambiguous stimulus. Valence weighting bias is measured through a behavioral task called Beanfest. One of my goals is to produce a self-report measure of valence weighting bias, but this task has proved elusive and has lead to the recent question, “Do some personality measures provoke one mode of processing over another, and can this style of processing be changed?” As a result of this question, my current work  investigates the influence of mindset manipulations on self-report questionnaires
