August 29: Introduction

Tuesday August 29 at 4pm we begin the fall term with an introduction to the theme of the pain of reason. For more information go here.

Those who plan to participate this Tuesday and have the time might listen to Sebastian Rödl’s first seminar, in particular the first 20 minutes or so; the file can be obtained by writing to brown.2583@osu.edu  Supplemental readings mention in Rödl’s discussion include papers by Anscombe, “Rules, Rights, and Promises,”On Promising and Its Justice,  and Hornsby, “Illocution and Its Significance.”
