G.O.A.L.S.

These goals were created in Autumn 2019 to help guide my time at OSU.

Global Awareness:

Developing my global awareness is a priority of mine while studying at OSU. I plan to study abroad in a French-speaking country to develop my current language skills and diversify the perspective from which I learn about my major coursework. I hope to study in France as well as another francophone country, specifically in North Africa. I believe that this will give me two very different global perspectives and help me develop cultural competence and understanding of different cultures.

Original Inquiry:

As a part of the Eminence Scholars program, I will be pursuing research during my studies with the ultimate goal of writing a Thesis. I am currently in the early stages of this process and am exploring different research opportunities that fit my interests. I hope to work on research relating to either conflict resolution in international politics, the development of countries, or the implicit bias in the American criminal justice system. Currently, my interests are broad but I soon hope to narrow down my focus.

Academic Enrichment:

I am currently pursuing a double major in World Politics and Public Affairs, as well as a minor in French. I expect this course load to be quite rigorous, yet fulfilling. I plan to take high-level courses during my academic career in both my major/minor areas as well as for my General Education classes. I have always had a deep love for the humanities and hope to supplement my other coursework with classes in the humanities, specifically in literature and art history. Learning should be exciting and something you are passionate about and I hope to keep this mindset throughout my studies.

Leadership Development:

I am currently a member of the IGNITE Women in Politics club on campus and eventually hope to take on a leadership role. I also am looking to get involved in more clubs, but am still in the exploration stage since I am a first-semester Freshman. My broadly in the Columbus community, I hope to find an internship role in the political sphere or for an organization that focuses on a social issue I am passionate about. Eventually, I would like to work my way up to become a leader for others in an internship role.

Service Engagement:

I am currently in the midst of planning a service project with my Eminence Fellows Cohort. This class project will be developed and implemented throughout my time as an undergraduate student and I hope to leave a lasting impact on the Columbus community. I would like to focus on an underrepresented group in Columbus and I hope to bring my political knowledge and leadership skills to the project. Our goal as a class is to create a project that is the first of its kind and works with the community we focus on to fulfill their needs.
