Retirement Contributions Waiver
Students will automatically be enrolled in a state retirement plan unless they opt out within 30 days. Failing to opt out by the deadline will result in an irrevocable enrollment into the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Systems and a mandated 10% deduction from pay for retirement contributions. Review the default retirement information NOW!
Student Hours Limitations:
Students are limited to working a maximum of 28 hours while enrolled in classes and 38 hours during non-enrolled periods which includes breaks (winter, spring, summer). If the student has multiple positions, the combination of hours between the positions is still limited to 28 or 38 hours. Federal Work Study and International students are limited to working 20 hours per week while enrolled in classes.
Access to Vehicles:
Students driving a University vehicle must complete a Driver’s Registration Form. Please the Finance office if you require access to drive a University vehicle. An electronic driver registration form will need to be completed online.
Accident Reporting
Student employees are covered under the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) for any injuries/illness incurred while performing tasks considered part of the position expectations. Student employees are required to complete the Employee Accident Report form and Animal Bite Report form (if applicable) and return the forms to their supervisor. Student employees may seek medical treatment at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center Emergency Department. Otherwise, student employees may seek treatment at:

Timekeeping
You are required to record all hours worked by clocking in and out within Workday each time you work. In order to ensure that you are paid on-time, please submit adhere to the following deadlines:
- Mondays at 12 pm – deadline for all employees to submit their timesheet for supervisor approval
- Tuesdays at 12 pm – deadline for all managers to approve timesheets to be sent for processing
