Martial arts (Tang Soo Do)

Black Belt in Korean martial art Tang Soo Do; Moo Duk Kwan (Federation Number: D-10-2107; Black Belt Number: 11-SE388; Instructor: Grandmaster Jino Kim, Dan 8), Dan 1: 3 September 2011; Dan 2: 8 March 2014; Dan 3: 9 September 2017. Photo (3 November 2017). I trained at Professional Karate Schools of America (PKSA) in Ann Arbor, Michigan from 2006-2010, and at J. Kim Martial Arts in Columbus, Ohio from 2010-2018. Photo (15 September 2018) with Grandmaster Jino Kim and his father Great Grandmaster Song-Ki Kim (Dan 9). Unfortunately, I was forced to stop training in Tang Soo Do due to a knee operation.

Music (especially jazz and progressive rock)

I have some professional musician friends, listed (alphabetically) below. Michiel Borstlap, Steve Hackett, and Patrick Moraz have written blurbs for the preface of my social psychology textbook with Roy Baumeister.

Traveling (especially in Europe)

I love Europe! I have taught courses, given lectures, and conducted research with colleagues in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.

Vegetarian cuisine (eating and cooking)

I love to eat and cook vegetarian food. I have been a vegetarian since age 18.

Cycling

I love cycling, especially in The Netherlands. If the weather is good, I also like to cycle in Columbus. There are dedicated bike lanes I can use from our house to The Ohio State University (about 8 miles or 13 km, round trip). I also ride a stationary bike at home while listening to NPR or the BBC on the radio. I also enjoy hiking and walking.
