About Me

My name is Joshua Biery, and I am a first-year student from Cincinnati, Ohio at the Ohio State University studying Aerospace Engineering. I am also a member of the Humanitarian Engineering Scholars program, which is dedicated to both academic excellence and positive community influence and action.

Prior to coming to Ohio State, I was a student of La Salle High School in my hometown of Cincinnati. During high school, I was able to discover and begin to hone my interests and skills through rigorous honors and AP courses as well as extracurricular involvement. As such, I have developed problem-solving and critical thinking skills along with creativity. Through my leadership roles in the Lasallian Scholars Institute, Key Club, and French Club in high school, I developed a stronger character; a character of compassion and responsibility.  It was also through this involvement in community and academics that I began to significantly develop as a strong leader in service and in other capacities. Combining these acquired skills and my leadership aptitude with my work ethic has sculpted me into the student and leader that I am today.

Now as I begin a new chapter in my life, I plan to become just as involved, if not more involved, in the community at Ohio State through academics as well as extracurricular activities and leadership so as to foster further development of my character and to hone my skills even further.  I challenge myself to achieve higher than I have before, to develop into an even more successful student and professional, and to start my professional career as an engineer.

About-Me #2

My Strengths:

  1. Strategic: I connect very well with this strength because I am very strategic in my approach to finding solutions. I want to make sure I am choosing the correct path. I think that this strength is coupled with my analytical strength.
  2. Learner: I connect very well with this strength because I love to learn.  I am always seeking out new knowledge. In high school, I took AP electives to learn. Also, I’ll also watch informative or interesting videos on YouTube.
  3. Achiever: I connect with this strength really well, too because I am a perfectionist.  I am always trying to perfect what I do and make sure that what I do is done to the best of my ability. This drive is what gives me the achiever strength.
  4. Individualization: I connect with this theme because I am intrigued by people.  Through working community service at a local homeless shelter in downtown Cincinnati in high school, I grew an appreciation for all types of people.  I believe that this service in high school is why I now have the individualization strength.
  5. Analytical: I connect very well with this strength because I am a very analytical thinker.  I usually tend to approach problems with an analytical approach rather than an emotional one.
