How to keep motivated during troubling times.

Hey guys, I hope you’re all doing okay still during the COVID-19 panic.

I think one issue we are all having is to stay motivated, especially for exercise. Because let’s be honest, most of us didn’t want to work out before, and now we have an excuse not to. (I’m looking at you Niles.)  But it’s important to maintain our physical health, now more than ever really. Most of us aren’t going to be seriously injured from this virus. However, those around us very well could if we aren’t careful. If we keep up our physical health, that will keep our immune systems strong. Our Immune system being strong will help keep us from getting sick, which will help others not get sick. (So really it’s kinda your civic duty to get swole, as a good Samaritan.) Weight lifting exercises are a great way to do this, because muscle helps burn calories during times of inactivity. But if you don’t have any weights, don’t let that stop you! Cardio is great for cutting down fat and to burn calories quickly. Also, it generally just makes you feel better to go for a run (Because it releases endorphins and pumps Adrenalin.)

So in short, keep active guys! If not for you, for the people you care about and for those you want to keep from getting sick.

Also remember, it would be super cool if we all came out of quarantine looking like a heartthrob teen wolf from some cheesy romance novel (Of which I definitely didn’t read the entire series of and watch all the movies multiple times.),

Till next time guys! Stay healthy out there!

Week of Module 5

Hello fellow students! I hope the COVID19 situation isn’t impeding your ability to access my blog and to learn all these juicy school tips. This week I think the most important thing we reviewed was the note taking section. The link to the original video on Youtube is

Sadly, I don’t actually know how to link to a specific portion of the lecture, so that will have to do (sorry)! What’s really interesting to me was that I actually used an amalgamation of these methods without even knowing. My A.P. US History teacher in high school showed us how she took notes in college, and I just adopted the way she did it. (It’s a mixture of both the Cornell and the Outline, but is closer to the outline method than anything.) It’s gone really well for me, I have to say. All things considered, I really have been enjoying this method. I would recommend it for anyone and everyone who wants to take better notes. One thing to consider is that it doesn’t exactly flow well to some people. For example, I use the margin to outline what the point of the entire page is. Then I use an indent for the next point, an indent for the next point branching off that, etc… All points should collect back to the original overarching point for the assignment. (The format for blogs doesn’t allow you to demonstrate with indents, so I can’t show sadly.) I definitely plan to keep using the method I’ve been using, because it works really well for me. If I had to give anyone some advice, it would be to shop around for what you think is the best method for you. However, if you are comfortable with your method of taking notes, there’s no need to change that!

How the week of 3/22/20 went

Hey guys!

This week we mainly went over being efficient on the internet, and how to effectively manage our time. I think there couldn’t have been a better time for this, considering everyone is stuck at home thanks to the Corona Virus COVID-19. This change to everything being online has been really difficult for me, because I’ve always been a very active and athletic person my entire life. Being stuck indoors has shown me a new version of myself I haven’t seen before. I constantly find myself procrastinating every single thing I possible can now. In fact, I never really knew how easy it was to waste so much time on the internet! Every single time I want to do an assignment, want to do any homework, or anything of the sort, I find myself suddenly on Youtube, Instagram, twitter, you name it. I’m almost trying to push off doing any work every chance I get without my even knowing it! I’ve been trying to do something to break that this week, through the week we went over different methods of fighting procrastination. I’m planning to start making more efficient schedules to help manage my time and to help me focus my efforts more effectively during this time.

First Post

Hello!

This week we learned about netiquette and how to communicate better online. Netiquette is exactly what it sounds like it is, etiquette on the internet. We also talked about the blog posts, emails, and other things. on the email side, we specifically spoke about the different types of emails, especially in a school aka academic setting vs a regular setting. A lot of this is pretty basic stuff, since all of us have taken high school electronic classes, but it’s always nice to have a reminder just in case you forget a tiny detail here or there. I really am enjoying this class though. A lot of people that I know do not like classes over the internet, but me personally I have always enjoyed them. Since I am a student athlete at The Ohio State University I am working out an uncomfortable amount of hours every single day. I’m in the gym about 6 hours a day, Monday going through Friday, not counting the practices we have on the weekends half the time. So, I’m a pretty busy and a pretty tired guy. But online classes keep me from skipping class, which I have an unfortunate habit of doing (usually I’m sleeping). But this class is going really well for me, and I’m learning and enjoying it quite a bit!
