Hunter’s Education Course June 26, 27,29

The Ohio Dept of Natural Resources willing be holding an in-person Hunter’s Education Course June 26th, 27th, 29th at the Ramser 4-H Center. Classes will be 6:00-9:00pm on the 26-27, and 8:00am-3:00pm on the 29th. There is no cost to attend, but registration is needed. There is a link below but it is NOT a direct link. If using the link below, be sure to put in the zip code for Mt Vernon (43050) to search. You can also search on the ODNR website for “Hunter’s Education” and “in classroom” option.

This is not a 4-H event, but is open to all youth in Knox County and surrounding counties. This could be used as a learning experience for Natural Resources projects, especially shooting sports projects. There will be some breaks during the class time, but lunch/snacks would be not be provided. Any questions should be directed to the ODNR.

2024 Forestry Wildlife Camp

The 2024 Forestry Wildlife Camp is open to campers in grades 7-11.  Registration for camp is due March 28, 2024.

Campers can enjoy wildlife education, fishing, hiking, tree climbing, outdoor survival, ODNR careers & college opportunities, learning about forestry and more!

2023 4-H Forestry Wildlife Conservation Camp

The Ohio 4-H Forestry Wildlife Conservation Camp is a fun-filled weekend learning experiences for campers in grades 7-11.  The camp is held at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp located just outside of Jackson Ohio.  This camp offers opportunities for campers to meet and learn from ODNR, Hocking College and OSU Extension professionals.  Campers participate in hands on educational sessions on invasive species, wildlife and tree I.D., tree climbing, operating a portable wood mill, outdoor survival, hunting & trapping and much more!

Campers will also have time for fun traditional camping activities such as crafts, boating, fishing, hiking and campfire. 4-H Forestry Wildlife Conservation Camp

We are currently seeking 4-H Counselors to assist with this camp. Counselors attend for free but must be part of their local county 4-H counselor training program. Counselor application are on the same website above.

2018 Ohio Forestry & Wildlife Camp

The third annual 2018 Forestry and Wildlife Camp is being offered Friday, September 14 – Sunday, September 16 at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp in Jackson, Ohio.  The first 40 registrants will be able to go for $35.  Once those spaces are filled the cost will increase to $77.  The deadline is September 7, 2018 or until camp is full.  This camp allow participants (ages 12-18) to try new and exciting challenges, learn about and appreciate the natural world around them, while meeting experts in the field of forestry and wildlife conservation.
