Adding Animals to 4-HOnline Profile or FFA Profile for 2021

Animal Identification and Photos are due going to be due for many of our market animals and horses in the near future.  Below are the dates that each specie needs to have that animal information uploaded by 11:59 p.m.:

  • April 1 – Market Beef & Market Dairy Steer
  • May 1 – Dairy Market Feeders, Market Goats, Market Hogs, Market Lambs, Horses
  • June 1 – Beef Feeders
  • July 1 – Market Rabbits

If you are an FFA member and do not have a 4-HOnline 2.0 profile, we ask that you upload you information to the following website: https://go.osu.edu/ffaanimalupload.

If you do have a profile in 4-HOnline 2.0, regardless of the projects you are taking through 4-H, we are going to ask you to use that platform to add your animals.  Attached are the instructions to assist you with that process: Adding Animals to 4HOnline

Buckeye Bunny Supply Memorial Scholarship

The Buckeye Bunny Supply Memorial Scholarship (In Memory of Alan Worthington) application is now available! Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to a high school senior or current college student who was active as a youth member in the rabbit industry that has excelled in all aspects of their 4-H or FFA career. Deadline to apply is April 9, 2021.

2019 Junior Fair Rabbit Ambassador Information

We are looking for 4-H/FFA members who are participating in rabbit projects in the 2019 Knox County Junior Fair and are interested in being Junior or Senior Rabbit Ambassador. The Senior Rabbit Ambassador will be 16 years old or older, and the Junior Rabbit Ambassador will be between the ages of 13 and 15 years old. The Ambassadors of the previous year cannot apply in the next consecutive year. The Ambassadors will be responsible for representing the rabbit species during the Knox County Junior Fair. During the Knox County Fair, the Ambassadors will be required to attend the market rabbit show and showmanship on Sunday, July 21 and breeding rabbit show on Wednesday, July 24. Also, the Ambassadors will be required to attend Junior Fair sale on Thursday, July 25.

On rabbit show days the Ambassadors should be available to help set up for the shows, give the 4-H/FFA members their awards, and be available to have their picture taken with the Grand and Reserve Champions. On the day of Junior Fair sale, the Ambassadors should also be available to have their picture taken with the Grand and Reserve Champions. Also they will be required to help serve at the Buyers’ Luncheon.

These two young adults will be selected for various reasons one being that they are respectful and responsible citizens that are qualified to represent themselves, the Knox County Fair, the 4-H/FFA program, and the rabbit species. These young adults will be expected to be neat and appropriately dressed for each event and be respectful and responsible at all times.

Please submit this form to the Knox County OSU Extension office by 5:00 p.m. on July 10, 2019 and interviews will be scheduled for Friday, July 12 starting at 4 p.m.

2019 Ohio State Rabbit Quiz Bowl

The primary purpose of the Rabbit Quiz Bowl Contest is to provide an opportunity for 4-H members to demonstrate their knowledge of rabbit-related subject matter in a competitive setting where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. The Rabbit Quiz Bowl Contest should provide an educational experience for both participants and spectators.  It will be held on Saturday, July 13 at the nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus.  Registration is due June 13.  For more information please refer to: https://ohio4h.org/events/ohio-state-fair-4-h-rabbit-quiz-bowl-contest-0.

 

Champaign County Rabbit & Cavy Youth Fun Show

 Champaign County will be hosting a Rabbit & Cavy Youth Fun Show on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Champaign County Fairgrounds located at 384 Park Ave, Urbana, Ohio 43078 Woodruff Show Arena.

It will be sponsored by: Champaign County Rabbit & Cavy 4-H Advisors
Registration the day of the show only $1.50 per animal.  Registration begins at 8:00 AM with the show beginning at at 9:00 AM.

Awards for rabbits and cavies to be given for:

  • Best In Show & Reserve Best In Show
  • Rosettes for BOB & BOSB
  • Plaques for Best & Reserve 4 Class & 6 Class Rabbits

All youth welcome. Do not have to be a 4-H member to participate.
