Pack Goat Enthusiast Gatherings

I bet you are ready to get your goats out to start walking and having some fun, so let’s do it together! Bring your goat to walk on the trails at the Knox County Natural Resource area then take them for a spin on some pack course elements!

Location: The New Ramser 4-H Activity Center and Natural Resources Area (come in the front gate of the Knox County Fairgrounds and go to the north east corner) (white building with a green roof)

When:

  • April 25/Sunday 2:00pm—3:00pm
  • May 16/Sunday 2:00pm—3:00pm
  • June 13/Sunday 2:00pm—3:00pm

110% Livestock Show Clinic

My name is Levi Hartschuh, a lifetime 4-H and FFA member in Crawford county, this year for my senior project through Wynford High School I am hosting a livestock show clinic. I have a strong passion for the agricultural and livestock industries, and hope to educate youth on how to make their show ring performance 110%. This clinic will be held on March 14th at Fogle’s sale pavilion in Marion Ohio. The clinic will be broken down into 3 sessions, the sessions include:

  • 10 -11:30am – Sheep & Goats
  • 11:45 – 12:15pm – Umbarger Feeds (nutrition clinic)
  • 12:30 – 2pm – Beef & Dairy Feeders & Swine

Early Registration for this event is February 26th, forms turned in by this date guarantee a t-shirt and a spot at the clinic. The registration fee is $20.00 per youth exhibitor, this fee will cover all species clinics.

You Got to Believe Livestock Camp for Sheep & Goat

We have an exciting SHOWMANSHIP opportunity for you in a location near you in Norwalk, OH.

Chastin Leggett, from You Gotta Believe Livestock Camps, is holding a sheep and goat livestock camp on May 1st-2nd, 2021 at the Huron County Fairgrounds, Norwalk OH.

These camps are very informative and beneficial for both new and seasoned showman. The camp is run by Mr. Leggett and a team of highly decorated counselors winning state and national showmanship from all over the United States.

The camp is a faith-based, family focused camps who’s main focus is to create champions and change lives in the process (participation in the faith-based activities is not required but is offered through a devotions and prayers throughout camp).

You will receive hands on learning and 1 on 1 showmanship coaching with industry leading counselors while working and practicing with your OWN animal.

Things also covered in camp are:

  • Livestock selection and evaluation
  • Livestock basic nutrition
  • How to fit and prepare your animal for show
  • Character strengthening
  • ….and much more!

These camps are not only great for learning about your animal and showmanship, but it will bring laughter, joy, and fun to any showman that participates!

Goat Project Sign-Up Help

GOAT Projects can be confusing!

4-H advisors, we need your help! There is only 1 goat project book but there are 6 separate projects exhibitors can do!  Please double check and clarify with all goat project members in your club to make sure they are signed up for all the goat projects they want to do!

  • 135M    Market Meat or Dairy or Crossbred Goats (this is a sale animal)
  • 135BD  Breeding Meat Goats (production meat does)
  • 135BD  Breeding Dairy Goats (any breed of pure dairy or pure dairy cross)
  • 135PY  Pygmy Goat (doe and/or wether)
  • 135P    Pack Goat (this is the one that is often missed……they must register for the pack project
  • to take the pack class at fair)
  • 135C     Companion/Pet Goat – this project they do NOT exhibit at fair

* Knox County Fair does not offer Harness Goat or Fiber Goat classes.
